If you sell the vehicle, transfer the device, or permanently move vehicle registration out of the service area, Check MyCar2 states the Lifetime Service Plan may end. Provide proof: vehicle sale receipt, V5C transfer document, or utility bill showing new address. Applicable rule: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 for written proof of contract changes.
Price increase
If Check MyCar2 increases a recurring charge you have already agreed to, you may cancel and request a refund for any renewal period paid after the increase. Required proof: copy of the price-change notice you received and proof of payment for the renewal period. Applicable rule: Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 - traders must provide a renewal cooling-off notice; see legislation.
Death of the subscriber
To cancel after a subscriber's death, send a copy of the death certificate and proof of authority (executor or next of kin) to the postal address. Required documents: death certificate and proof of authority or relationship. Applicable rule: Consumer Rights Act 2015 for contract termination on personal grounds.
Legitimate grounds and service failure
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires services to be performed with reasonable care and skill. If the device or service is faulty and Check MyCar2 cannot repair, you can request termination and refund. Required proof: diagnostics, service logs, photos/videos showing failure, and correspondence documenting failed remedies. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015.
End of commitment
If you purchased a time-limited plan with an explicit end date, cancel at the end date. Required proof: purchase invoice or confirmation showing the end date. If no end date is published, write to the postal address requesting termination under general consumer contract rules.
Cooling-off period (14 days)
For contracts concluded online or off-premises, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 provide a 14-day cooling-off period from the day after you received the goods or entered the contract. To exercise this right, notify the trader in writing within 14 days and return unused hardware if required. Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and renewal rules in the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 - see legislation.
