If you move institution or country and can no longer use the service, request cancellation by email to [email protected] and include proof such as a new employer letter or new address. Teachmate's published policies do not list a specific automatic refund for moving. Refer to the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 only if you are within the 14-day cooling-off window.
If Teachmate AI raises the subscription price during your contract, you may cancel without penalty if the increase is not explicitly agreed in your contract. Send the price increase notice and your cancellation request to [email protected]. Consumer Rights Act 2015 protects against unfair contract terms and the CMA treats unclear auto-renewal or unfair price-change clauses as potentially unfair.
In the event of a subscriber death, a representative should contact [email protected] and provide a copy of the death certificate to request termination and refund assessment. Teachmate's public rules for this are not published; handle via support email and postal evidence if needed.
Research shows Teachmate accepts that refunds are possible only under specific conditions: cancellation within 14 days of the first payment and no access to Pro tools. For school subscriptions, refunds are possible within 14 days only if no teacher on the account has accessed Pro tools. Provide payment receipt and evidence of no Pro tool usage if seeking refund.
Monthly subscriptions have no minimum commitment and renew automatically. Cancel before the renewal date to stop the next payment. For school invoices or annual contracts, follow the invoice terms or contact [email protected] and follow the invoiced termination rules.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have a 14-day cooling-off period starting the day after the contract is concluded for online services. Teachmate's policy waives this right if you have accessed Pro tools; therefore to claim a refund under the 14-day rule you must show that Pro tools were not accessed and that you cancelled within 14 days.
Applicable laws: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013; Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Teachmate does not publish standard retention discounts. To request a retention offer, email [email protected] and include your account email, current plan (Pro), and a clear request - for example ask for a discounted annual rate or a temporary price reduction for 6 months. For school or multi-school pricing request a quote via school pricing. Keep the reply as written proof of any offer.
Pro plan cost: £6 per month. Yearly saving from cancelling Pro: 6 x 12 = £72 per year.
Compare to alternatives from competitors:
Cheapest real alternative listed: Learnfluid at £4.99 per month equals £59.88 per year, saving compared with Teachmate Pro: £72 - £59.88 = £12.12 per year.
The main protections are the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015. For digital services the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 also adds obligations on end of contract notices.
The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you a 14-day cooling-off period for distance contracts. The cooling-off right ends earlier if a digital service begins and you gave express consent to immediate performance and acknowledged losing the right to cancel. Teachmate's published refund policy states that by accessing Pro tools you waive the 14-day right.
The CMA scrutinises hard-to-cancel subscriptions and unclear auto-renewal clauses. If you suspect an unfair term or that cancellation was made unreasonably difficult, raise a complaint with Citizens Advice and the CMA. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 allows challenge of unfair contract terms.
1) Complain to Teachmate via [email protected] or by registered letter to Teachmate AI, 38-44 Queen Street, HU1 1UU Hull, United Kingdom. 2) If unresolved, get advice from Citizens Advice. 3) Use chargeback via your card issuer or Section 75 if the payment qualifies. 4) Report suspected misconduct to the CMA or relevant ombudsman.
The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 requires traders to provide an end of contract notice when a subscription ends. For online cancellations the trader must send the notice within 24 hours. For other methods the trader must send it within 3 working days. See the enacted legislation at DMCCA 2024 section.
After cancellation access typically continues until the end of the current billing period. Confirm the date you will lose access and check your next billing date to ensure no further charges.
Download any lesson plans, reports or files before access ends. For data requests or deletion contact [email protected]. If you have concerns about data handling, see the ICO entry for Teachmate at ICO record.
To re-activate a cancelled subscription sign in and choose a plan. Refunds are only available in the limited cases set out in Teachmate's policy - see the Refund Policy block below. If you cancelled within 14 days and did not use Pro tools, request a refund with payment evidence.
