Company facts

Web / Desktop

1. Open Discord on desktop or in a browser and sign in.
2. Click your avatar to open User Settings (cogwheel next to username).
3. In User Settings go to the Subscriptions tab.
4. Find the Nitro or Nitro Basic banner and click Cancel.
5. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm cancellation.
6. After confirmation you will keep Nitro until the end of the current billing period; no further renewals are charged.

iOS (App Store)

1. On your iPhone or iPad open Settings.
2. Tap your name at the top then Subscriptions.
3. Find Discord Nitro in the list and tap Cancel Subscription.
4. Confirm cancellation. Apple manages billing and will send a confirmation email.
5. If you purchased Nitro through the iOS App Store, you must cancel through Apple, not through Discord's website. See Google Play/iOS guidance and Discord Paid Services Terms.

Android (Google Play)

1. Open the Google Play Store on your Android device.
2. Tap the profile icon then Payments and subscriptions then Subscriptions.
3. Select Discord Nitro and tap Cancel subscription.
4. Follow prompts; Google Play will send a confirmation.
5. If Nitro was purchased on Android, cancel through Google Play to stop renewals.

Billing Support form (if you cannot access account)

1. If you cannot cancel in the app or web because you cannot access the account, open Discord Billing Support and submit a request using the email tied to the Discord account.
2. Provide the account email address and explain you request to Cancel Nitro.
3. Wait for the Support Team reply; Discord may cancel the subscription for you after verification.

1. Write a clear statement: your full name, Discord username, email tied to account, and sentence: "I Cancel my Discord Nitro subscription".

Moving abroad or change of billing country

If your payment method or billing country changes, cancel Nitro in the original purchase platform (web, Apple, or Google Play). Provide billing proof if Discord Support requests it. The applicable law for cross-border consumer rights is the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 for UK residents where relevant.

Price increase

If Discord raises the price and your renewal date is after the increase, you may cancel to avoid the higher charge. Keep the renewal notice and billing statements as proof. The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and CMA guidance on automatic renewal apply to ensure transparency about price changes.

Death of subscriber

To cancel for a deceased account holder contact Discord Billing Support with proof such as a death certificate and proof that you are the executor or next of kin. Discord requires verification before granting account changes.

Legitimate grounds accepted by Discord

Discord accepts cancellation requests through the Subscriptions tab, mobile store cancellations and the Billing Support form when you cannot access the account. End of commitment

There is no minimum term; cancel anytime. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. No penalty may be charged under UK consumer law for cancelling a subscription contract as set out in the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.

Cooling-off period

For online purchases of digital services, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give a 14 day right to cancel with a refund unless the consumer expressly consented to immediate performance and lost the right to withdraw. For subscriptions that begin immediately with content access, Discord treats most payments as non-refundable except where Support grants refunds. UK law also gives specific cancellation protections under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024; see section 264 and section 261.

Before you cancel: negotiating with Discord

Discord does not publish standard retention discounts. There are no widely reported automatic retention offers in official support materials. To ask for a retention offer, open Billing Support, state you intend to Cancel and ask if there are promotional rates or a one-time credit you can use. If you purchased via Apple or Google Play, request help from those stores for promotional codes linked to your account.

Nitro Basic monthly: £2.99 x 12 = £35.88 per year. Nitro Basic annual: £29.99 per year. Savings by cancelling Nitro Basic (switching from monthly to annual) = £35.88 - £29.99 = £5.89 per year.

Nitro full monthly: £9.99 x 12 = £119.88 per year. Nitro full annual: £99.99 per year. Savings by cancelling Nitro full (switching from monthly to annual) = £119.88 - £99.99 = £19.89 per year.

If you cancel Nitro full monthly at £9.99 you save £119.88 per year compared to paying monthly; if you cancel and take no alternative subscription you save that full amount.

Cheapest real alternative - Xbox Game Pass is priced at £16.99 per month according to research. That is £16.99 x 12 = £203.88 per year. If your primary goal is access to games rather than Discord features, Xbox Game Pass costs £203.88 per year, which is more expensive than Nitro full at £99.99 per year.

Key UK laws and regulator

The relevant UK regulator is the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). The key legislation is the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 for subscription cancellation rights and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 for cooling-off rights on online contracts.

Cooling-off and refunds

The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 provide a 14 day cooling-off period for online purchases, but the right can be lost for digital content where the consumer consents to immediate performance. Discord's official terms say payments are generally nonrefundable, but Discord accepts refund requests within 5 days for Nitro and Server Boost purchases in certain cases. Unfair renewal and escalation

The CMA treats hard-to-cancel subscriptions and unclear auto-renewal terms as potentially unfair. If Discord fails to provide an end of contract notice or refund overpayment after you Cancel, you can escalate to Citizens Advice and file a complaint with the CMA. For payment disputes, use your card issuer for chargeback or consider Section 75 if the card transaction qualifies.

Access and last day

After you Cancel, you retain access to Nitro features until the end of your paid billing period. Note the expiry date in your account and schedule any data exports before that date.

Data and re-activation

Cancelling Nitro does not delete your Discord account. Your server boosts and some features will revert when your subscription ends. To restore Nitro you can re-subscribe at any time. Keep a record of receipts and cancellation confirmations in case of future disputes.

Final billing and refunds

Discord states that payments are nonrefundable by default. For refund requests, Discord accepts some refund requests within 5 days of the initial purchase for Nitro and Server Boosts. Submit refund requests via Discord Support referencing your purchase date and receipt. If Discord owes a refund under UK law (for example, an overpayment after cancellation under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024), Discord must issue an end of contract notice and refund the overpayment.
