What the organisation does

Celtic Leisure is the charitable leisure trust operating community leisure centres in Neath Port Talbot. It runs gyms, swimming pools, classes and cultural activities on behalf of the local council.

Who it serves

Its core audience is the general public of Neath Port Talbot across all ages, with specific membership products for adults, juniors and concession groups.

How membership works

Memberships include monthly Direct Debit and annual payments with different products such as Full Adult, Joint Adult, concession and age-based memberships. Swimming lessons are not included in memberships. For a summary of membership options see membership and official prices at price list.

Web - official online form

1. Open the Celtic Leisure cancellation page at https://celticleisure.org/cancelling-your-membership/.
2. Complete the online cancellation form with your membership details, membership number, and reason for cancellation.
3. Submit the form and save or screenshot any confirmation page. Celtic Leisure must acknowledge cancellation for it to take effect.
4. If you disagree with the acknowledgement, keep a copy and escalate as required.

iOS - app

1. Open the Celtic Leisure app to check class bookings and timetables.
2. The app permits booking and class management but the membership terms show cancellation requires the online form or email; the app does not publish a membership cancellation flow.
3. Use web or email if you need to cancel membership.

Android - app

1. Open the Celtic Leisure app on your Android device to review bookings and account details.
2. Follow instructions to check if a link to the cancellation page is present; if not, use the website or email method.

Phone

1. Celtic Leisure does not publish a phone cancellation policy; phone details for cancellations are not published.
2. If you attempt phone contact, request a written confirmation by email and record the date and the name of the staff member.

Email

1. Send an email to [email protected] with your full name, membership number, date of birth and a clear statement that you wish to cancel the membership.
2. Request written acknowledgement and record the date you sent the email.
3. If you do not receive an acknowledgement, send a registered letter as backup.

Post (registered letter)

1. Write a signed cancellation letter including your membership number, name, address and a statement that you want to cancel the membership.
2. Send by registered post to Celtic Leisure, Dyfed Road, SA11 3AW Neath, United Kingdom.
3. Keep the postal receipt and signed-for delivery confirmation as proof.

Moving - change of address

Rule: Celtic Leisure membership terms do not publish a specific automatic relocation cancellation formula. Action required: contact Celtic Leisure by the online form or email and provide proof of new address such as a utility bill or tenancy agreement. Price increase

Rule: If you disagree with a membership fee increase, you have 14 days from the date of notice to cancel without penalty using the online form. Legitimate ground - service failure

Rule: Celtic Leisure states refunds or immediate cancellation may be considered if the provider fails to meet service standards such as persistent equipment failures, serious hygiene issues or significant reductions in advertised services. Required proof: photos, dated evidence of failures, correspondence showing the issue and any official complaints logged with Celtic Leisure. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 - services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill.

End of commitment

Rule: For Direct Debit memberships members may cancel after three Direct Debit payments; some month-to-month products run for one month only (for example Aqua Club, Bowls, Over 60’s Swim Only, Active Teens). Cooling-off period (14 days)

Rule: For contracts concluded off-premises or online the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 provide a 14-day cooling-off period during which you can cancel and obtain a refund of unused services. Required proof: date of contract (email, receipt), cancellation within 14 days via the online form or email. Before cancelling: negotiate

Key UK consumer law

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires services to be performed with reasonable care and skill and prevents unfair contract terms. Check final access

Confirm the date your access ends in the acknowledgement. If cancellation is received before the 26th of the month the membership ends at the end of that calendar month; otherwise it ends at the end of the following month.

Data and direct debit

Ask for written confirmation that Direct Debit instructions will be cancelled. Keep a copy of the confirmation and the date. If Celtic Leisure does not cancel the Direct Debit, contact your bank with the paperwork and request cancellation of the mandate.

Final billing and refunds

If you paid in advance and are eligible for a refund under the Council’s refund policy (administered by Celtic Leisure as agent), request a pro-rata refund in writing. A 14-day cooling-off refund applies where relevant. If you believe you are due a refund due to service failure, gather evidence and request a refund referencing the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Re-activation

If you later want to rejoin, ask for current prices and any joining procedures; annual payment offers are normally 12 months for the price of 11 according to the membership pricing notes.
