Relocation - move more than 15 miles
Rule: GymWorks accepts cancellation for relocation if you move more than 15 miles from your home club. Required proof: utility bill, bank statement or signed tenancy agreement showing the new address.
Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 (contractual fairness when a contract allows termination for relocation).
Long-term illness, injury or medical condition
Rule: GymWorks accepts cancellations for long-term medical reasons if the condition prevents exercise for more than 3 months. Required proof: a doctor’s written opinion explicitly stating that you are prohibited from exercising. X-rays, appointment confirmations and prescriptions alone are not sufficient.
Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 (services must be performed with reasonable care and skill).
Redundancy or loss of livelihood
Rule: GymWorks will consider cancellation for redundancy or other loss of livelihood when appropriate proof from the employer is provided. Required proof: formal redundancy notice or employer letter confirming loss of income.

Pregnancy
Rule: GymWorks accepts cancellation for pregnancy with appropriate written proof. Required proof: written confirmation such as a midwife letter or maternity appointment letter that includes your name and expected due date.

Club breach of contract or change of services
Rule: If GymWorks fails to provide reasonably expected facilities or services, you may cancel the agreement. Required proof: records of the breach (dates, booked classes cancelled, written correspondence) and your cancellation notice.

End of minimum commitment
Rule: For 12-month contracted memberships you can stop renewal by giving one full calendar month written notice once the minimum number of payments has been made. Required proof: membership details and a written notice. Cancellation becomes effective after one calendar month.

14-day cooling-off (if signed online or off-premises)
Rule: If you signed the membership online, by phone or away from the gym, you have a 14-day statutory right to cancel without reason under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Required proof: written cancellation within 14 days by email or post. If you used the service during that period the refund will be reduced pro-rata for days used.
