Moving abroad or relocating at least 50 miles
New Age Fitness does not publish a specific relocation acceptance policy in its public terms. If you must cancel because you permanently relocate, send evidence such as a new tenancy agreement or utility bill showing the new address together with your written cancellation request. Cite Consumer Rights Act 2015 if the gym refuses to consider reasonable relocation evidence.
Price increase
If the club raises membership prices mid-contract and your contract does not allow the specific rise, you can treat this as a change to the service. Provide the club with your written cancellation and keep copies. Consumer Rights Act 2015 protects against unfair contract terms; if the increase is not permitted by your contract, you can seek cancellation or a price adjustment.
Death of the subscriber
If the member dies, send a copy of the death certificate and the membership details in writing to the club and ask for cancellation and a final account statement. The club's public terms do not list death procedures, so present the death certificate as proof.
Legitimate grounds - illness or incapacity
New Age Fitness' terms do not publicly list accepted medical grounds. To cancel for long-term incapacity, provide a GP letter or consultant report explaining that gym attendance is medically inadvisable and request cancellation in writing. Reference the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for service quality and fairness.
End of minimum commitment
For annual plans, the term is 12 months at the £239.99 annual price. Send a written instruction to cancel at the end of the fixed term at least 5 working days before the next payment. For monthly-no-contract plans, cancel any time with 5 working days notice before the next Direct Debit.
Cooling-off (distance sales)
If you joined online, by phone or off-premises, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you 14 days to cancel without reason. If you asked the gym to start the service during the 14-day period, the gym may charge for the portion supplied. To use the cooling-off right, notify the gym in writing within 14 days and request a refund for unused services. Final refunds are due within 14 days of agreement to refund.
