Mid-term cancellation and fees
Rule - If you cancel mid-term (before the end of the 12-month term) Vitality reserves the right to charge an administration fee of £40. If you have paid for the year, they will refund any premiums that relate to the period after cancellation provided you have not claimed, but they may deduct claims costs if you have claimed.
Required proof - policy documents and evidence of any claims paid. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 for contract fairness.
When a claim has been made
Rule - If a claim has been made and Vitality has paid invoices you may need to repay those claim amounts. If cancelling after 14 days and a claim has been made Vitality will charge either a pro-rata premium or the amount paid in claims, whichever is greater, up to the full annual premium.
Required proof - claims history and invoices. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015.
