Cooling-off period (change your mind within 14 days)
Rule: Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have a 14 day cooling-off period starting the day after entering the contract for services bought online or off-premises.
How Staysure applies this: If you cancel within 14 days and you have not travelled and no claim has been made, Staysure will refund the premium in full subject to any applicable fees. See Staysure help: I want to cancel my policy.
Required proof documents: policy number, evidence of purchase date, confirmation that no travel has occurred and no claims have been submitted.
Law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Death of the subscriber or bereavement
Rule: Staysure lists bereavement among acceptable reasons for cancellation in their help materials. If bereavement applies, Staysure may accept cancellation and consider a refund at their discretion.
Required proof documents: death certificate or other official bereavement documentation and the policy number.
Law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 protections on fair contract terms apply where a cancellation penalty seems disproportionate.
Change in policy coverage or medical underwriting
Rule: Staysure accepts that if a change in the policy leads to Staysure no longer being able to provide cover for your medical condition, this is a valid reason to cancel.
Required proof documents: notice from Staysure or medical underwriting that coverage cannot be provided, policy number and written request for cancellation.
Law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the company terms: see Staysure policy document.
Moving (change of residence)
Rule: Staysure does not publish a specific cancellation right solely for relocation. Use the contractual terms or request discretionary cancellation if relocation causes you to be ineligible for certain cover.
Required proof documents: Staysure does not publish required evidence for relocation; provide proof of new address and a written cancellation request. Mark evidence as "Not published by Staysure" where the provider has not published details.
Law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 may not create a specific right to cancel for relocation outside the cooling-off period; escalation routes are available if you consider a term unfair.
End of commitment
Rule: Travel insurance policies are single trip or annual multi-trip. At the end of an annual policy you are free not to renew; there is no automatic long-term minimum commitment published.
Required proof documents: Not applicable for non-renewal; retain policy expiry confirmation and non-renewal request if needed.
