Moving web hosting to another provider
If you move to another host you must back up or migrate your site before cancelling. SiteGround offers free site migrations; after cancellation hosting data is removed immediately. Provide migration confirmation or exported site files as proof.
Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 (service must be performed with reasonable care and skill).
Price increase
If SiteGround increases the renewal price beyond the amount you accepted at signup, review your contract and renewal notice. The CMA treats unclear auto-renewal and hard-to-cancel subscriptions as potentially unfair. Save renewal notices and invoices as proof. If the price rise breaches your contract terms, you may cancel and seek refund under Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 or Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Applicable law: Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
Death of the subscriber
Provide a copy of the death certificate and proof of relationship or legal authority to act on the estate. SiteGround does not publish a formal death-handling policy; use the Client Area or email [email protected] to request account closure and provide documentation. Keep postal or email receipts as proof.
Legitimate ground accepted by SiteGround (contract performance or breach)
SiteGround accepts termination requests submitted in the Client Area. For refunds and complaint handling, follow SiteGround help pages. Provide invoice numbers, ticket IDs, and screenshots of issues as proof.
Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015.
End of commitment / renewal
Introductory shared hosting prices apply to the first 12-month prepaid purchase. If you do not want renewal at the higher rate, cancel before the renewal date using the Client Area. Save the cancellation confirmation and renewal invoices. Refund rules differ for renewals: SiteGround's policy allows a full refund if cancellation is requested within 30 days of payment and before the renewal term starts; a partial refund may apply if the renewal term has started (SiteGround KB).
Cooling-off (14-day distance selling right)
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have a 14-day cancellation right for contracts concluded online. SiteGround offers a separate 30-day money-back guarantee for shared plans and 14-day for cloud plans beginning on activation. If you asked for service to start during the 14-day cooling-off, you may lose the cancellation right for digital content if you gave express consent and acknowledged loss of right. To claim statutory cancellation, inform SiteGround clearly and keep proof of the communication.
