Cooling-off (change of mind within initial period)
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have a 14-day cooling-off period for most contracts concluded online or off-premises. The Subscription Contracts Act 2024 also provides a right to cancel a subscription contract during an initial cooling-off period and any renewal cooling-off period. For Stylist VIP subscriptions specifically, customers have 14 days after receiving the first issue to cancel and receive a full refund if cancelled within that period. For Stylist Extra (digital only), statutory cooling-off rights for a full refund are waived once any part of the digital content has been delivered or made available.
Required proof documents: delivery date of first issue or confirmation of delivery, copy of membership details.
Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013; Subscription Contracts Act 2024.
Price increase
If Stylist increases the price at renewal, the Subscription Contracts Act 2024 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 protect your right to end the subscription during the renewal cooling-off period. Stylist must provide notice of changes in line with their terms. If you do not accept the increase you may cancel the renewed contract under the Act.
Required proof documents: copy of notification from Stylist showing the change and its effective date.
Applicable law: Subscription Contracts Act 2024.
Company stops providing the product
Research shows Stylist will give at least 30 days notice if it stops providing a subscription product and will refund sums paid in advance for services not provided. If Stylist withdraws a subscription, you are entitled to a refund for the unused portion.
Required proof documents: cancellation notice from Stylist and proof of prepayment.
Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Delay or force majeure affecting delivery
If provision of services is delayed by an event outside Stylist's control and there is a risk of substantial delay, customers may contact Stylist to end the contract and receive a refund for services paid for but not received. This is set out in Stylist terms and in consumer law principles.
Required proof documents: copy of Stylist correspondence showing delay, receipts of payment.
Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Death of the subscriber
Stylist's publicly available material in research does not publish specific instructions for cancellation on death. If cancellation is needed for this reason, send a copy of the death certificate and the subscriber account details to [email protected] or by post to the registered address. Stylist's acceptance and processing time are not publicly disclosed.
Required proof documents: death certificate, proof of relationship or executor authority.
Applicable law: Not explicitly stated by Stylist; general contract law principles apply.
