Overview

Calm is a subscription mental wellness app offering guided meditations, sleep stories, breathing exercises, music and masterclasses for stress relief and better sleep. Calm sells individual Premium subscriptions, family plans, lifetime access and offers a free tier with limited content.

The primary audience includes adults seeking meditation, sleep support and stress reduction. Calm also sells solutions to employers, health plans and healthcare providers.

Web - Cancel on Calm.com

1. Open your browser and go to https://calm.com/.
2. Sign in to your Calm account and go to Profile > Manage Subscription or visit Calm subscription management.
3. Select Cancel Subscription and follow the on-screen prompts to confirm cancellation.
4. Keep the on-screen confirmation and any confirmation email as proof of cancellation.

iOS - Cancel via Apple

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap your name > Subscriptions. Find Calm in the list.
3. Tap Cancel Subscription and follow Apple prompts. Apple processes the cancellation and sends confirmation.
4. If you need a refund for an App Store purchase, request it through Apple. Calm does not handle Apple refunds directly.

Android - Cancel via Google Play

1. Open the Google Play Store app.
2. Tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
3. Select Calm and tap Cancel subscription. Follow prompts.

Email

1. Send an email to [email protected] with your account email, username and a clear request to cancel the recurring subscription or close your account.
2. State whether the subscription was purchased via Calm.com, Apple or Google Play so support can advise the correct route.
3. Save the support reply as proof. Calm notes that active subscriptions must be cancelled separately if purchased through a third party.

Post - Registered letter

1. Write a registered letter addressed to: Calm, Crown Way, CF14 3UZ Cardiff, United Kingdom
2. Include your full name, account email, date of birth (if used for account verification) and a clear instruction to cancel your subscription or close your account.
3. Keep the registered-post receipt as proof. Allow 5-10 business days for delivery and another 5-7 business days for Calm to process.

Moving - change of residence

If you must cancel because you are moving and the service is no longer useful, email [email protected] with proof such as a new utility bill or tenancy agreement. Calm accepts account closure requests by email; live subscription cancellation must follow the purchase route. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 for contract performance and fairness.

Price increase

If Calm raises the subscription price during a fixed-term commitment, you can object and cancel if the change is a unilateral contract variation that you did not accept. Death of the subscriber

To close an account after the account holder has died, email [email protected] with a copy of the death certificate and proof of authority to act for the estate. Calm will advise on account closure. Applicable law: not a specific statute in this guide; follow Calm support procedures.

Legitimate ground accepted by Calm

Research shows Calm allows cancellation via the original purchase channel and will assist with recurring subscriptions via [email protected]. If the subscription was purchased through a third-party store, cancellation must be done with that third party and Calm will not directly cancel those charges. Provide purchase receipts or bank/card statements as proof.

End of commitment

If your subscription term ends (annual or monthly) cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to stop auto-renewal. Proof is the cancellation confirmation received from Calm or the app store.

Cooling-off period (14 days)

If you bought a subscription online, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 provide a 14-day cooling-off period for distance contracts. However, for digital content the right can be lost once streaming or downloading begins with your express consent. Before you cancel: try to negotiate

Calm does not publicly publish a list of retention offers. No retention offers were reported in the research. To request a discount or extension, email [email protected] and include your account email, subscription type and a clear request for a discount, annual upgrade or account credit. Ask for a specific offer, for example: a 3-month extension or a discounted annual price. Keep all replies as evidence.

Compute yearly cost for common Calm plans and show savings:

• Premium monthly: £8.99 x 12 = £107.88 per year.
• Premium annual: £32.99 per year (one payment).
• Family annual: £54.99 per year.
• Lifetime: £299.99 one-time payment.

• If you cancel a Premium monthly subscription you stop paying £107.88 per year.
• If you switch from Premium monthly to Premium annual you would save £107.88 - £32.99 = £74.89 in the first year.
• If you cancel a Family annual subscription you save £54.99 in the year it would have renewed.

Relevant UK consumer law

Your rights include the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 which provide a 14-day cooling-off period for distance contracts. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires services to be performed with reasonable care and skill and protects against unfair contract terms. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) enforces rules on misleading auto-renewal and hard-to-cancel subscriptions.

How to escalate if Calm refuses

Data and account deletion

If you want your account deleted email [email protected] with a request to close your account. Note: cancelling a subscription does not automatically delete your account or data; submit a separate deletion request and keep the support reply as proof.

Re-activation

To re-subscribe, sign into Calm.com or reinstall the app and purchase the chosen plan. If you re-subscribe within the same calendar period you may be charged immediately depending on the app store rules or Calm.com billing rules.
