Web (Microsoft account) - step by step

1. Sign into the Microsoft account used to buy Copilot.
2. Open Services & subscriptions (account.microsoft.com/services).
3. Find the Copilot or Copilot Pro entry in the list.
4. Click Manage then Cancel and follow prompts to turn off recurring billing or request cancellation.
5. Keep the confirmation screen and confirmation email as proof.

iOS (App Store) - step by step

1. Open the App Store on the iPhone or iPad signed in with the Apple ID that bought Copilot.
2. Tap your profile icon then Subscriptions.
3. Select the Copilot subscription and tap Cancel Subscription.

Android (Google Play) - step by step

1. Open Google Play Store app signed into the Google account used to buy Copilot.
2. Tap Menu then Payments & subscriptions then Subscriptions.
3. Select Copilot then Cancel subscription and complete prompts.
4. Save the Google Play confirmation email as proof.

Email - step by step

1. Compose an email to [email protected] from the account email used for billing.
2. Include: full name, account email, subscription ID or invoice number, and explicit request: "Please cancel my Copilot subscription and confirm in writing."
3. Send by recorded delivery if you want extra evidence, and keep sent mail copies.

Post - step by step

1. Write a registered letter to: "Copilot, Crown Way, CF14 3UZ Cardiff, United Kingdom."
2. Include full name, account email, subscription ID or invoice number, and a clear cancellation request.
3. Send by Royal Mail Signed For or Royal Mail Special Delivery and keep the receipt as proof.

Moving abroad or relocation

If you are moving and the service cannot be provided because of location restrictions you must provide proof such as a signed tenancy agreement or a utility bill showing the new address. Copilot has not published exact acceptance rules; include your account details and the proof when you contact support. Applicable rule: Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 for distance contracts where performance is affected.

Price increase

If Copilot increases a subscription price during a fixed term, you can cancel if the contract allows cancellation for a price change. Keep the provider notice and your account billing screenshots as proof. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 on unfair terms and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 for changes to contract terms.

Death of subscriber

To cancel after the subscriber dies, provide a death certificate and proof of executor status to [email protected] or send a registered letter to the postal address. Copilot has not published specific procedures; use documented proof when you contact support.

Legitimate grounds and service failure

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires services to be performed with reasonable care and skill. If Copilot fails to provide the service with reasonable care and skill, gather evidence such as error messages, timestamps and support correspondence and complain in writing. You can seek a remedy or termination under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

End of commitment

If your plan includes an annual commitment (for example the Microsoft 365 Copilot Business add-on annual plan requires a 12 month commitment), you may cancel only at term end unless the contract states otherwise. Keep renewal invoices as proof.

Cooling-off (14 day) right

For contracts concluded at a distance, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give a 14 day cancellation period that starts when the contract is entered into. If the trader failed to provide required information, the period may extend by up to 12 months. Before you cancel: negotiate

Copilot does not publish a standard retention offer. If you want to keep the service cheaper, contact support at [email protected] and request a retention offer, specifying your account email, current plan and willingness to switch to a lower tier or an annual commitment. How to escalate

If Copilot refuses a valid cancellation or refund, complain to Copilot first in writing. If unresolved, contact Citizens Advice for guidance and your local Trading Standards. For certain regulated services escalate to the relevant ombudsman. For card payments consider Section 75 or a chargeback via your card issuer where eligible.

Check access and final billing

After cancellation, verify whether access continues until the paid period ends or stops immediately. Keep screenshots of subscription status and any confirmation emails showing the cancellation date and final billing amount.

Data and re-activation

Export any data you created with Copilot features before the subscription ends. If you wish to re-activate later, note that some Copilot business add-ons require a qualifying Microsoft 365 licence and, for annual plans, re-activation might involve a new 12 month commitment.

Proof and disputes

Store the cancellation confirmation (email or screenshot) and any postal receipts. If billed after cancellation, use these as evidence when disputing charges with the trader and your card issuer.
