Who uses GEVC

Primary customers are post-secondary institutions, private and public organisations and not-for-profit organisations that need curriculum development, employee onboarding, workplace safety and accessibility training.

Company facts

Web / Account portal

1. Sign in to your GEVC account (if you have one).
2. Open subscription or billing settings and look for a Cancel or Manage subscription link.
3. Follow on-screen prompts and save any cancellation confirmation or screenshot.
4. If no cancellation option exists, send a written request by email or post.

iOS / App Store

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Tap your name > Subscriptions, find GEVC and choose Cancel Subscription.
3. Keep Apple confirmation email as proof.

Android / Google Play

1. Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
2. Select GEVC and Cancel subscription.
3. Keep Google confirmation email as proof.

Phone

1. GEVC does not publish a public phone number; if you have a contract or sales contact, use the number on your contract.
2. When connected, request cancellation, write down the agent name and a reference number.
3. Follow up in writing by email or post to confirm the request.

Email

1. Send email to [email protected] with subject line "Cancellation request - [your name or organisation]" and include contract ID, user details and requested end date.
2. Keep the sent email and any reply as proof.
3. If you do not get a reply within 7 days, resend and escalate by recorded postal letter.

Post (Recorded Delivery)

1. Write a signed cancellation letter including subscriber name, contract or membership ID, and clear statement: "I cancel my GEVC membership under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013" if inside 14 days.
2. Send to: GEVC, Suite 1 Second Floor, Berkeley Square House, Berkeley Square, W1J 6BD London, United Kingdom by Recorded Delivery.
3. Keep the Recorded Delivery receipt as proof. This method is recommended when you need formal dated proof.

Cooling-off (change of mind within 14 days)

Rule: You have a 14-calendar-day cooling-off right under The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel a contract concluded off-premises or online and obtain a full refund if you cancel within that period. If digital content has been downloaded with your prior express consent and you waived the right, refund may not apply. To exercise the right, notify GEVC in writing within the 14 days. Keep proof of sending.

Required proof documents: signed written cancellation (email or recorded postal letter), proof of contract date, any order reference.

End of commitment or annual renewal

Rule: Most memberships require advance notice 30 to 90 days before annual renewal. Check your contract for the exact notice period and send cancellation within that window to avoid an automatic renewal charge.

Required proof documents: contract showing renewal date, a dated cancellation (email or Recorded Delivery), and a postal/confirmation receipt.

Law: Automatic renewal terms are scrutinised under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and CMA guidance; unfair automatic-renewal clauses may be challengeable.

Price increase

Rule: If GEVC increases price and your contract allows cancellation for increases, you may cancel following the contract's specified process. If the increase is not permitted by the contract or is unfair, you may have a right to terminate under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Required proof documents: copy of the price increase notice, original contract, written cancellation referencing the price increase notice and dates.

Moving or change of circumstances

Rule: GEVC does not publish a specific policy for moving; where contract performance becomes impossible for objective reasons, you should supply documentary proof to request termination. Acceptance is subject to contract terms.

Required proof documents: new address evidence (tenancy agreement or utility bill), explanation of why service cannot be continued, contract copy.

Death of subscriber

Rule: Contracts can be ended by the estate. Provide a death certificate and correspondence from the executor asking for contract termination. GEVC does not publish a dedicated procedure; follow the contact details on the contract.

Required proof documents: death certificate, executor contact details, contract copy.

Legitimate grounds and unfair terms

Rule: If GEVC uses terms that create a significant imbalance or impose disproportionate cancellation penalties, those terms may not be enforceable under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If a term is unfair, you can challenge it and seek termination.

Required proof documents: contract clause copies, communications showing the term applied, evidence of financial detriment.

Before cancelling: negotiate

Retention behaviour reported in research: GEVC customer feedback mentions pressure to continue membership and offers of discounts or upgrades instead of processing cancellation requests. To request a retention offer, email [email protected] or state your cancellation intent by Recorded Delivery and add "Please confirm any offers to retain my subscription before processing cancellation". Ask for a written offer with the price, duration and start date. Keep all written offers.

What cancelling saves you - example calculation

GEVC does not publish standard consumer subscription prices. Concrete, public consumer price items in GEVC/EVEC materials include an accessory price of £40 inc VAT for interchangeable covers and the £500 OZEV grant eligibility for some EVEC chargers. Example savings you can claim with documented items:

• Interchangeable cover optional cost avoided: £40 inc VAT.
• Cooling-off refund amount: £0 cancellation fee if within the 14-day right (refund = full amount paid back; cancellation fee = £0).
• Government grant that reduces your purchase cost: OZEV grant of £500 is available for qualifying EV charger installations, reducing your net spending by £500 when you claim it.

Note: Because GEVC does not publish fixed consumer subscription prices, compute your personal yearly saving by taking your known annual fee and subtracting any retention offer price. Example formula you can use: Your monthly price x 12 = yearly cost. If GEVC offered a 25% reduction on a monthly fee of £10.00, the math would be: £10.00 x 12 = £120.00 annual; 25% of £120.00 = £30.00 saved; New annual cost = £90.00. Use your actual billed amount to get an exact figure.

Key UK consumer law

The main protections are the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 gives additional protection for cancellation during initial or renewal cooling-off periods. The CMA enforces rules against unfair auto-renewal practices.

Cooling-off and refunds

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 calendar days to cancel online and off-premises contracts and obtain a full refund if you notify the trader in that period. How to escalate

1) Complain to GEVC in writing and keep records. 2) If unresolved, contact Citizens Advice for guidance and Trading Standards. Citizens Advice cancellation information: Citizens Advice - cancelling a service. 3) If you paid by credit card and the purchase qualifies, consider a Section 75 claim or a chargeback through your card issuer. 4) For persistent unfair terms or hard-to-cancel subscriptions, notify the Competition and Markets Authority or your local Trading Standards office. Check access and final billing

Keep evidence of your cancellation (email, Recorded Delivery receipt, on-screen confirmation). Verify the date your access ends and check the final invoice for any remaining charges. If you cancelled within the 14-day cooling-off period, expect a full refund and a cancellation fee of £0.

Request account data and deletion

If you want your data removed, send a clear request to [email protected] asking for account deletion or data portability. Keep a copy of your request and any replies. If GEVC does not comply, you can raise the issue with the Information Commissioner's Office.

Re-activation or migration

If you plan to return to GEVC later, ask for reactivation terms in writing so you know any re-onboarding fees or changes to pricing. If you are switching to a competitor, export any deliverables and training assets before access ends.
