1. Email [email protected] (for tickets and memberships) or [email protected] (for app subscriptions) with your full name, membership number and the clear statement "I want to cancel my membership/subscription".

3. Keep copies and registered post receipt and allow up to 14 days for a reply.

Cooling-off right (first 14 days)

If you purchased or renewed online, by telephone or by post you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days from the date of purchase or renewal. To exercise this right contact Ticketing & Membership Services. If you cancel during this period the Club will provide a full refund of the Membership Fee within 14 days of being informed of the decision to cancel.

Required proof documents: order confirmation or membership number and the clear written statement to cancel.

Price increase

If Manchester United raises a subscription price mid-contract and you do not accept the increase, you may have the right to terminate the contract. Required proof: club notice of price increase and your cancellation request in writing. Applicable law: Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.

Moving or relocation

Moving abroad is not listed in the club's published exceptions. Required proof: Manchester United does not publish a relocation cancellation policy; provide proof of new address and request termination. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 for unfair terms if the trader refuses a reasonable request.

Death of subscriber

Manchester United does not publish detailed rules for death of a subscriber. Required proof: death certificate and account holder details; contact Ticketing & Membership Services for account closure and refund options. Legitimate ground accepted by the club

Published exceptions where Manchester United offers refunds or pro-rata returns include: match Flexi-Ticket refunds (if notified by 12pm on the Business Day before kick-off), and pro-rata refunds for app subscriptions if the service is prevented by an event outside the club's control and benefits were not provided.

Required proof: for Flexi-Ticket refunds email [email protected] before deadline with ticket details; for service failures provide evidence of the failure and request a pro-rata refund.

End of minimum commitment

If a plan has a fixed-term commitment (not published by the club), end the contract at the commitment end date and request an end of contract notice and any overpayment refund. Applicable law: section 261 of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 requires an 'end of contract notice' and refund of 'overpayment' where appropriate - see section 261.

Before you cancel: negotiate

Manchester United does not publish universal retention offers. For memberships the club sometimes provides renewal reminders and membership bundles at renewal; specific retention discounts are not published. MUTV Annual Pass: £29.99 per year.

Premium Membership: £70 per year.

Official Membership: £37.50 per year.

Lite Membership: £35 per year.

Under 16 Membership: £20 per year.

Forwarding Membership: £25 per year.

Examples of savings if you cancel a MUTV Monthly Pass and switch to the annual pass: 7.99 x 12 = £95.88 minus £29.99 = £65.89 saved per year.

Cheapest real alternative: MUTV Annual Pass at £29.99 per year is the lowest-cost official access to MUTV content compared with monthly payment. If you cancel Premium Membership (£70 per year) and switch to Lite Membership (£35 per year) you save £35.00 per year.

Primary consumer law

Key legislation: Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 and Consumer Rights Act 2015. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) enforces aspects of these laws in the United Kingdom.

Cooling-off and cancellation rights

Consumers have a right to cancel a subscription contract during an initial 14-day cooling-off period and any renewal cooling-off period. The right to cancel is effective when the trader receives a clear statement. Traders must provide a 'cooling-off notice' for each renewal cooling-off period and an 'end of contract notice' when a contract ends. Remedies and escalation

If Manchester United refuses a lawful cancellation or refund, escalate by emailing support, then file a complaint with Citizens Advice for guidance, and if payment was by credit card consider a Section 75 claim or a chargeback via the card issuer. The CMA may investigate unfair auto-renewal terms.

Confirm access and billing

Keep any email confirmation or cancellation reference. Check your next billing date to confirm recurring payments have stopped. For in-app subscriptions verify that Apple or Google has cancelled the recurring payment.

Data and account

Decide whether to keep your account for reactivation or request account closure. If you request deletion, ask for confirmation of data removal and retention period for historical records.

Final billing and refunds

If you cancelled within your 14-day cooling-off period you are entitled to a full refund within 14 days of notification. If you cancelled after the cooling-off period refunds are only provided where the club's published terms allow or if an applicable statutory right applies.

Re-activation

To re-activate a membership or MUTV subscription sign in at manutd.com or re-subscribe through the app. Renewal dates for standard memberships are usually processed at the end of May for season memberships.
