Web - cancel via Proton account (recommended)

1. Open https://account.protonvpn.com and sign in with your Proton credentials.
2. From the sidebar select "Subscription".
3. Scroll to "Cancel subscription" and click "Continue".
4. Read the confirmation text, click "Cancel subscription" again, select a reason and click "Submit".
5. Keep a screenshot of the final confirmation page and note the date; service remains until the end of the billing cycle.

iOS - cancel via the App Store

1. Open iPhone Settings and tap your name/Apple ID.
2. Tap "Subscriptions" then select "Proton VPN" or the relevant Proton app.
3. Tap "Cancel Subscription" and confirm.
4. Request a refund through Apple's reportaproblem site if within 30 days: https://reportaproblem.apple.com/ (refund timelines 5-10 days per Proton guidance).

Android - cancel via Google Play

1. Open the Play Store app and tap your avatar.
2. Select "Payments and subscriptions" then "Subscriptions".
3. Choose "Proton VPN" and tap "Cancel subscription" and follow prompts.
4. For refunds, contact Proton support or request via Google Play (refunds typically 3-5 days).

Email and support form

1. For Proton Business or Enterprise accounts use your account representative or the Customer Support Form listed at Proton support pages.
2. You may send an email to [email protected] for account help; include account details and desired cancellation date.
3. Business terminations require at least 30 days notice before renewal or the plan will renew for another term and be cancelled at the end of that renewal cycle.

Phone and post

1. Proton does not provide cancellation by phone or post for VPN subscriptions. Postal or telephonic cancellation is not accepted for standard consumer subscriptions.

Cooling-off right (change of mind)

Consumers buying online have a 14-day cooling-off right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you cancel within 14 days of the contract start and you requested no immediate performance of the digital service, you are entitled to a refund. If you asked Proton to start the service immediately and download or streaming began with your express consent, the digital-content exception may apply and the cooling-off right can be limited. Price increase

If Proton increases the price during a fixed contract term and the contract allows you to cancel for that reason, you should notify Proton with a clear cancellation statement. Proton does not publish a specific death-of-subscriber policy in public support pages. For account closure after a subscriber death, you should contact Proton support at [email protected] and be prepared to provide proof such as a death certificate and proof of authority. Legitimate ground (contract breach or service failure)

If Proton fails to provide the service with reasonable care and skill you may have the right to terminate under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Document service faults and send a written complaint to support; you may be entitled to a refund or termination without penalty.

End of commitment / prepaid term

If you purchased a 1-year or 2-year prepaid plan you have paid for that period. Proton allows cancellations but the service remains until the end of the paid term; early termination refunds are at Proton's discretion unless statutory rights apply.

If you want better value, contact Proton support and ask if there are available promotions or downgrades that save cost - for example moving from monthly billing to an annual or 2-year prepaid plan.
