Main UK features

QuickBooks UK plans include Making Tax Digital (MTD) ready VAT submissions, multi-currency support on some plans, CIS for contractors and payroll add-ons. Payroll add-ons range from £4 + VAT to £15 + VAT per month depending on level and employee fees.

Web (official QuickBooks web subscriptions)

1. Do not look for a full cancellation flow in-app; QuickBooks UK directs customers to call 0800 028 2548 to cancel web subscriptions.
2. Have your account email and billing details ready when you call.
3. Request a confirmation email or reference number at the end of the call.

iOS - Apple App Store purchases

1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap your profile, then Subscriptions, then find QuickBooks and tap Cancel Subscription.
3. Keep the App Store confirmation screenshot or email as proof of cancellation.

Android - Google Play purchases

1. Open Google Play Store, tap your profile, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
2. Select QuickBooks and choose Cancel subscription.
3. Save the Play Store confirmation for your records.

Phone (recommended in UK)

1. Call 0800 028 2548.
2. Provide account email, billing address and the last 4 digits of the payment card if asked.
3. Ask for a cancellation reference and request a confirmation email.

Email (support)

1. Send a detailed email to [email protected] including your account email, company name and reason for cancellation.
2. Note that for some QuickBooks products QuickBooks notes email requests are generally not accepted; if you do not receive confirmation, call 0800 028 2548.

Post (registered letter)

1. Write a signed request including account email, company name and instruction to cancel immediately.
2. Send by registered post to QuickBooks, Crown Way, CF14 3UZ Cardiff, United Kingdom.
3. Keep the registered post receipt as proof of your request.

Moving abroad

If you are moving abroad and no longer need UK QuickBooks services, QuickBooks does not publish a special rule for moving-related cancellations. Use the standard cancellation routes: call 0800 028 2548 or cancel via the Apple/Google store if purchased there. Where the contract was concluded at a distance, you may have rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 if within the cancellation period. Price increase

If QuickBooks raises the price mid-contract and you consider the change material, check your contract terms. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 protects consumers from unfair contract terms and disproportionate cancellation penalties; challenge a price-change clause if it appears unfair. QuickBooks must follow its contract; if the clause is unfair you can escalate to Citizens Advice or the CMA.

Death of the subscriber

If the subscriber dies, QuickBooks does not publish a specific online policy. Contact QuickBooks support by phone or email and prepare to provide a copy of the death certificate and proof of authority to act for the estate. Outstanding payments remain due under the account terms; discuss billing with support.

Legitimate ground accepted by QuickBooks

Research shows QuickBooks requires specific cancellation channels and does not list a catalogue of accepted reasons for immediate termination. For QuickBooks Practice Manager Platform, cancellation must be done via the settings link and email or phone requests are generally not accepted. If you claim the service was not provided with reasonable care and skill, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies.

End of commitment

If your plan has no minimum commitment, you can cancel at any time. For monthly plans, QuickBooks states cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period for monthly subscriptions with no pro-rata refunds; however, QuickBooks also states that if you cancel before the end of your current paid month, cancellation will take effect immediately and you will not be charged again but there is no pro-rating of unused time.

Cooling-off period

For contracts concluded at a distance you have a 14-day cooling-off right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Digital content is an exception if you gave express consent for immediate access. See Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

Before cancelling: negotiate

Research did not surface specific retention offers publicly documented for QuickBooks UK. To ask for a retention offer, call 0800 028 2548 and state your case: give the account email, current plan name and ask explicitly for discounts or a pause. If QuickBooks cannot offer retention, ask for a documented account note and confirmation of cancellation terms.

Service quality and unfair terms

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires services to be performed with reasonable care and skill and makes unfair contract terms unenforceable, including disproportionate cancellation penalties.

Auto-renewal and escalation

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) treats hard-to-cancel subscriptions and unclear auto-renewal terms as potentially unfair practices. If QuickBooks refuses a lawful cancellation, escalate first to QuickBooks support, then to Citizens Advice, and finally to the CMA. For card payments consider Section 75 or chargeback with your card issuer where applicable.

Confirm access and final billing

After cancellation, check for a confirmation email or reference. QuickBooks states outstanding payments become due and there is no pro-rata refund for unused time. For annual subscriptions you may be eligible for a 60-day money-back guarantee if you bought QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Online Advanced within 60 days of purchase.

Export your data

Export all invoices, reports and customer lists before cancellation completes. QuickBooks requires you to stop using the services on termination; export data immediately after you have confirmation.

Re-activation

If you want to return, you can re-subscribe. Pricing and introductory discounts may differ for new customers; QuickBooks often offers large introductory discounts to new customers.
