Cancel RYA the easy way

Overview

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is the UK national body for all forms of recreational sailing, windsurfing and powerboating. It certifices courses, publishes training materials, and runs membership and eBook services.

RYA sells textbooks and eBooks, operates the RYA Books app subscriptions, offers pathway memberships for different age groups, and administers training, exams and qualifications across the UK.

Web (online cancellation)

1. Find your order acknowledgement email from RYA and note the order reference.
2. Go to the RYA online orders area or the RYA Books app and follow the on-screen cancellation prompts.
3. Complete the cancellation form where offered or confirm cancellation via the website.
4. Keep a screenshot of the confirmation page and any reference number emailed to you.

iOS - RYA Books app (digital content)

1. Open the RYA Books app and sign in with the account used to buy the eBook or subscription.
2. For subscription cancellations purchased via RYA, follow on-screen subscription management or use RYA account settings to cancel.
3. For purchases made via Apple in-app purchase, cancel via Apple Subscriptions in iOS settings; RYA refunds depend on whether you have accessed the content.
4. Note: eBooks can only be cancelled if you have not logged into the RYA Books app since purchase.

Android - RYA Books app

1. Open the RYA Books app and sign in with the account used to buy the eBook or subscription.
2. Cancel subscriptions where available in the app or contact RYA support by email with order reference.
3. If purchase was through Google Play, manage and cancel the subscription via Google Play Subscriptions.

Phone

1. Locate your order reference from the order acknowledgement email.
2. Call RYA customer support and state you wish to cancel, provide full name, address and order reference.
3. Ask the agent for a cancellation reference and request written confirmation by email.

Email

1. Compose an email to RYA support including your full name, postal address, order reference and clear statement "I wish to cancel my order/subscription".
2. Send the email and keep the sent copy; retain the reply email as proof of cancellation.

Post (registered letter)

1. Write a signed letter including your full name, postal address, order reference and the statement "I cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013" if cancelling within 14 days.
2. Send by registered post to RYA, Ensign Way, SO31 4YA Southampton, United Kingdom.
3. Keep the registered post receipt as evidence; allow postal transit time for the notice to be effective.

Moving - change of residence

If you move and can no longer use a service linked to your location, state your new address and provide proof such as a council tax bill or utility bill. RYA does not publish a specific moving cancellation rule in its public guidance; use general cancellation routes and include proof of new address.

Price increase

If RYA increases a recurring subscription price, you can cancel under the contract's terms or under cooling-off protections for renewals. Provide the renewal notice and the new price as proof; cancellation is effective on notification.

Death of the subscriber

To cancel for the death of the subscriber, send a copy of the death certificate and a cancellation request from the next of kin or executor by post or email. RYA accepts legitimate grounds such as death when presented with supporting documents.

Legitimate ground - damaged or faulty goods

RYA accepts returns for damaged, faulty or incorrectly delivered products. To cancel and request a refund, provide photos of damage and the order reference. Return goods unused except for reasonable examination and use recorded delivery with postal insurance where returning items.

End of commitment / Subscription termination

Provide the subscription details and state you wish to cancel from the next renewal date or immediately if within a statutory cooling-off period. Cancellation of a subscription is effective upon notification, ending future obligations.

Cooling-off (14 day distance right)

For most online orders and distance contracts you have 14 days to cancel without reason. Refunds and reductions

RYA will refund the product price including standard delivery costs if an order is cancelled, using the original payment method. If you chose a premium delivery option, only the standard delivery cost will be refunded. RYA may reduce a refund to reflect diminished value caused by the consumer.

Final billing and refunds
