Cancel inside Telegram (recommended fastest)

Moving abroad or change of country code

If you change your phone number so that future payments are routed to a different country, Telegram adjusts localized pricing on the first payment via @PremiumBot; you should cancel and resubscribe using the new number if you do not accept the new price. Provide a document showing the new phone number if Telegram requests verification.

Price increase

If Telegram increases the price of a paid subscription and you want to cancel because of the increase, notify Telegram with a clear statement to end the contract. Keep any notice Telegram provides and the date of your cancellation. Under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 renewal cooling-off requirements, a trader must provide a renewal cooling-off notice on the first day of a renewal cooling-off period and set out any refund entitlement.

Death of subscriber

Cancelling due to the death of the subscriber normally requires a clear notice from the account owner of their estate or an executor. Provide a copy of the death certificate and proof of authority to act for the estate if asked by Telegram.

Legitimate ground (service not performed with reasonable care and skill)

If Telegram fails to provide the paid service with reasonable care and skill you have the right to require performance or to terminate the contract under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Collect evidence such as screenshots, dates and any correspondence. Send a clear termination statement to Telegram. If you paid by card and the issue is not resolved, you may consider chargeback or Section 75 for qualifying payments.

End of commitment

If a promotion or fixed-term paid subscription ends, you may cancel at or before the end date to avoid renewal charges. Notify via the in-app subscription manager or the store where you purchased the subscription.

Cooling-off (14-day) rights

For online purchases, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 grant a 14-day cooling-off right for most contracts, with a refund. This right may not apply to digital content once download or streaming has started and you gave express consent to start the service. If you started a digital subscription immediately with express consent, the refund may not be available under this exception.

Telegram does not publicly list retention offers or discounts for existing subscribers in its help materials. There is no published evidence of standard retention discounts from Telegram in the research data. To attempt negotiation, use the in-app help or the transaction receipt and request a review through the payment platform used for purchase (Apple, Google or the @PremiumBot flow). Access and account state

After you cancel, your Telegram Premium subscription remains active until the end of the paid billing period. Your account, messages and data remain intact. The free features continue to work after the subscription period ends.

Data and re-activation

Your cloud-stored chats and media remain available on the free plan. You may re-activate Telegram Premium at any time by subscribing again via the in-app flow, Apple App Store, Google Play, or @PremiumBot depending on your preference and availability.

Final billing and receipts

Keep the confirmation of cancellation and the final billing period end date. If you paid through Apple or Google, the store will provide receipts. If you paid via @PremiumBot, retain the bot or payment transaction receipts.
