Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have a 14-day cooling-off period for distance contracts concluded online or off-premises. If you cancel within 14 days you are entitled to a refund, unless you gave express consent for immediate performance of digital content with loss of the right to cancel. See Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Required proof documents: proof of purchase (order confirmation email) and the cancellation notice sent to WIRED.
The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 gives a right to cancel during an initial cooling-off period and any renewal cooling-off period; notify the trader to exercise the right. If you cancel during a renewal cooling-off period you may be entitled to a refund for the unused period. See Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.
Required proof documents: subscription renewal confirmation, order reference and written cancellation notice to WIRED.
If WIRED increases the price at renewal, you may cancel the subscription if the new price was not clearly disclosed or if the price rise is materially different to the agreed terms. Conde Nast must provide clear cancellation instructions under UK consumer law. If the increase was not notified appropriately, you can notify WIRED and cancel. Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and Consumer Rights Act 2015 relating to unfair terms.
Required proof documents: notice of price increase, previous invoice showing original price, your cancellation notice.
Moving address alone is not an automatic legal ground for early termination unless the service cannot be performed. Provide proof of relocation only if delivery of a print edition is impossible. Required proof documents: new address confirmation (utility bill or tenancy agreement) and a cancellation request.
If the named subscriber dies, WIRED subscription can be cancelled. Provide a copy of the death certificate and the account holder details when requesting cancellation.
Research does not list additional specific legitimate grounds published by WIRED beyond cooling-off and standard account cancellations. For any consumer rights claim rely on the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
There are no widely reported, documented retention offers for WIRED in the public research. If you want to ask for a retention offer, contact customer service by phone or email and use a concise request: I would like to cancel my subscription but would consider staying for a reduced rate. Please tell me any available retention offers and renewal price guarantees. Keep the agent name and confirmation in writing.

The main laws are the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, which include cooling-off rights. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 protects against unfair contract terms and requires services to be performed with reasonable care and skill.
The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 provide a 14-day cooling-off period for distance contracts. The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 adds rights to cancel during renewal cooling-off periods. If you cancel inside a valid cooling-off period you are entitled to a refund as set out in the Regulations. See the legislation: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.
