Cooling-off period (14 days)
If you signed up online you have a 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. The 14-day period starts when the contract is entered into. To rely on this right, notify Amazon within 14 days and request a refund. If you asked Amazon to start the service during the 14-day period, you can still cancel but Amazon may deduct a proportion for the service provided. Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 - legislation.gov.uk.
End of commitment
Amazon Prime has no minimum contract length. You can cancel at any time. Choose 'End now' to stop benefits immediately or 'End on renewal date' to keep benefits until the paid period ends. No penalty applies. Applicable reference: Amazon Prime terms.
Price increase
Amazon's public help material does not set a special statutory right to cancel solely because of a price increase beyond normal contractual notice. You can avoid a rate increase by cancelling before the renewal date. Save cancellation confirmation as proof. Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 for distance contracts; review Amazon Prime Terms for contractual details: Prime Terms and Conditions.
Death of the subscriber
Amazon's published documents do not list a special process for death of an account holder. The practical step is to contact Amazon customer service, provide a copy of the death certificate and account details and request account closure. Keep any Amazon reply as formal proof.
Legitimate grounds and termination by Amazon
Amazon states it may terminate membership immediately for material breach, fraudulent use or misuse and in those cases no refund will be given. If Amazon terminates your membership for these reasons, you will be notified. Required proof for disputes is the account activity and any correspondence. Applicable reference: Amazon public help material and Terms.
Third-party sign-up or app-store billing
If you signed up via Google Play you must manage and cancel through Google Play Subscriptions. If billed by Apple you must use Apple Subscriptions. If signed up through another third party, contact that third party to cancel and request confirmation. Applicable reference: Amazon help pages note Android-specific handling.
