Overview

eBay Shop is eBay's paid store subscription that gives sellers fixed listings allowances, listing upgrades and seller tools to manage inventory and customer exposure. Shops are charged monthly and provide defined free listing allowances by plan tier.

Store subscriptions are aimed at part-time and full-time sellers who want predictable listing capacity and merchandising features. eBay describes its target audience as sellers of a variety of goods and services across more than 190 markets.

Company facts

Web (recommended)

1. Go to https://www.ebay.co.uk and sign in.
2. Click 'My eBay' then 'Selling' and then 'Subscriptions' or 'Manage shop'.
3. Find your Shop subscription and choose 'Cancel subscription' or 'End subscription'.
4. Confirm cancellation; save or screenshot the confirmation and any reference number.

iOS and Android app

1. Open the eBay app and sign in.
2. Tap your avatar, choose 'Selling', then 'Shop settings' or 'Subscriptions'.
3. Tap the active shop subscription and choose 'Cancel'.
4. Keep the in-app confirmation or email receipt.

Phone

1. Sign in to eBay and open the Help pages to request a call or use the contact options in your account.
2. When connected, state clearly: 'I want to cancel my eBay Shop subscription today.'
3. Ask the agent for a cancellation reference and for a confirmation email.

Email and Message Centre

1. Open the eBay Message Centre from your account.
2. Create a message to eBay Customer Service with subject 'Cancel Shop subscription' and include your shop name and seller ID.
3. Keep the message thread as proof; if no reply within 3 calendar days escalate by phone or registered post.

Post (registered letter)

1. Write a clear cancellation letter including your full name, seller ID, shop name and request to cancel the subscription.
2. Send by registered post to: eBay Shop, 1 More London Place, SE1 2AF London, United Kingdom.
3. Keep the postal receipt and wait for a written confirmation from eBay.

Change of mind or buyer error (buyer requested order cancellation)

Buyers may request order cancellations up until the item is dispatched. When a buyer requests cancellation, the seller has 3 calendar days to accept or decline. If the seller accepts, the order is cancelled immediately and a refund is issued if payment was completed through eBay checkout.

Seller has dispatched the item

An order cannot be cancelled if the seller has dispatched the item or the item has been collected in person. If an item has been dispatched, follow the returns process instead.

Buyer has not paid

If the buyer does not pay, the seller can cancel the order after 4 calendar days. eBay may auto-cancel if the seller does not respond within the allowed time. This is an administrative cancellation, not a store subscription cancellation.

Out of stock or listing error (seller cancellation)

Sellers can cancel an order if the item is out of stock or the buyer used the wrong delivery address during checkout. Note that seller cancellations can lead to a transaction defect on the seller account.

Cooling-off rights (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013)

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 UK consumers have a 14-day cooling-off period for most goods and services bought online. The right to cancel starts the moment the order is placed and ends 14 days from the day the consumer receives the goods. Some items are excluded, for example personalised goods or sealed audio/video/software if the seal is broken.

Death of subscriber or other exceptional circumstances

For account closure due to the death of a subscriber or similarly exceptional circumstances contact eBay UK support and provide proof such as a death certificate and proof of authority to act for the estate. eBay's support will advise on closing accounts and linked subscriptions.

Before you cancel: request retention offers

eBay Shop sellers sometimes receive retention or downgrade offers from eBay's seller support, but there is no publicly published standard retention table. To request a retention offer: contact eBay by phone or Message Centre and state your intention to cancel; ask if a discounted rate, temporary free listing credit or plan downgrade is available. Keep any written offer before you confirm cancellation.

Key UK laws and regulator

The applicable law includes the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 for cooling-off rights and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for services performed with reasonable care and skill and for unfair contract terms. The regulator is the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

Your cancellation rights under UK law

For most online purchases the cooling-off period is 14 days from the day you receive the goods. If you cancel during that period you are usually entitled to a full refund. Some goods and services are excluded, such as bespoke goods and sealed health and hygiene items where the seal is broken. For digital content, the 14-day right can be waived if you consent to immediate download.

Check final billing and refunds

Confirm the date cancellation takes effect and check for any final charge on your payment method. If a refund is due because eBay or the seller cancelled an order after payment, refunds typically go back to the original payment method and are often available within 3-5 business days. If the original method is not possible, eBay may issue PayPal or voucher refunds.

Access to listings and data

After cancelling a Shop subscription listing allowances revert to the free seller level. Export your listings, sales history and customer contact details before cancellation if you need them. You can continue selling on eBay without a Shop subscription but with different listing allowances and fees.

Re-activation

You can re-subscribe to an eBay Shop at any time via your seller account. Re-activating may take effect immediately and billing resumes on the new subscription date.
