Google Meet is a video conferencing service integrated into Google Workspace. It supports meetings, scheduled conferences and large calls under Workspace plans. Meet is part of the Google Workspace suite and is not sold separately from Workspace plans in most cases.

Company facts

Web - cancel via Google Workspace admin

1. Sign in to admin.google.com with a Super Administrator account.
2. Go to Billing, then Subscriptions.
3. Find your Google Workspace subscription that includes Meet features and choose Cancel subscription or adjust services.
4. Follow on-screen steps to confirm cancellation and note the billing end date in the confirmation email.

Android - cancel via Google Play

1. Open Google Play Store on your Android device.
2. Tap your profile icon, choose Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
3. Select the Meet or Workspace subscription and tap Cancel subscription.
4. Follow prompts and keep the confirmation email from Google Play. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.

iOS - cancel via App Store

1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and tap your profile icon.
2. Tap Subscriptions, find the Meet/Workspace subscription and tap Cancel Subscription.
3. Keep the App Store confirmation email or screenshot.

Email

1. Compose email to [email protected] with account name, billing ID and a clear cancellation request.
2. Include your preferred contact email and the date you want the cancellation to take effect.
3. Save the sent message and any reply as proof.

Post

1. Write a cancellation letter including account name, billing ID, and signature.
2. Send by registered post to Google Meet, 6 Pancras Square, N1C 4AG London, United Kingdom.
3. Keep the postal receipt and wait for written confirmation by mail or email.

Phone

Google does not publish a single consumer phone number for Meet cancellation. Use the admin console or [email protected] for official cancellation routes.

Moving address

If you must cancel because the service location changes, provide proof such as a utility bill or tenancy agreement showing the new address and a signed cancellation request. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires services to be supplied with reasonable care and skill; where the service cannot be provided at a new address, request refund for unused periods.

Price increase

If Google increases the recurring price you were paying and your contract allows price change, you may cancel. Keep the price increase notice from Google as evidence. If the increase is not in the contract, argue under Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for remedies.

Death of subscriber

To cancel for death of the subscriber, send a copy of the death certificate and a cancellation request from the executor or next of kin to [email protected] or by registered post to the UK address. The company must confirm receipt in writing.

Legitimate grounds and administrative cancellations

End of commitment

If your plan is on an annual commitment, cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid year unless the contract states otherwise. The provider must issue an end of contract notice in writing with the cancellation date, per the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.

Cooling-off (14 days)

For online purchases of services, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give a 14-day cooling-off period from the day after contract conclusion. To exercise it, send a clear cancellation message within 14 days and request a refund for unused services.

Before you cancel - negotiate

There are no widely reported standard retention offers for Google Meet in the research data. To request concessions, contact [email protected] or your Workspace Super Administrator and ask for billing options, a downgrade to a lower Workspace tier or a temporary suspension. Keep any written offers by email as proof.

Relevant UK law

Your cancellation rights in the UK are covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 adds rules on end of contract notices and trader obligations; see section 261 for reporting obligations: legislation.gov.uk.

Cooling-off and refunds

The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 provide a 14-day cooling-off right for many online contracts. Digital content exceptions apply if you explicitly agreed to immediate access and waived withdrawal. For paid subscriptions, cancellation takes effect from the start of the next payment period unless statutory cooling-off is invoked within 14 days.

Escalation steps

1. Complain to Google via [email protected] or the admin console and keep written records. 2. If unresolved, contact Citizens Advice for next steps. 3. Use Section 75 or chargeback with your card issuer for qualifying card payments for failures. 4. If unfair auto-renewal or hard-to-cancel terms exist, raise concerns with the Competition and Markets Authority.

Check access and recordings

Confirm the service end date in the cancellation confirmation. Ensure you have downloaded any meeting recordings or chat logs you need before the billing period ends.

Final billing and refunds

If you cancelled within the 14-day cooling-off period, request a refund for unused paid days. For other cancellations, you retain access until the paid period ends; refunds for past periods are not standard unless the service is defective, unavailable or did not perform as stated.

Re-activation

To restart Meet after cancellation, re-subscribe via the admin console or relevant app store and confirm billing. If you used an annual plan, re-subscription may require selecting a new commitment term.
