Cancel by reason

Moving

LinkedIn does not publish a specific rule that relocation entitles you to a special cancellation refund. To change billing or payment methods after moving, update your payment method in account settings and use the standard cancellation routes listed above.

Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 applies to contracts concluded online for UK consumers.

Price increase

If LinkedIn increases prices, your right depends on the contract terms you accepted. The LinkedIn User Agreement allows LinkedIn to amend terms but mandatory consumer rights under UK law remain. If a price change was not notified in line with the contract, raise a complaint via LinkedIn Help and use escalation routes below.

Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 - protection against unfair contract terms.

Death of subscriber

LinkedIn does not publish a dedicated death-of-subscriber cancellation form. For account access and closure request the executor or next of kin should contact LinkedIn Help with proof of authority and the subscriber death certificate. Keep all original documents available.

Legitimate ground (which LinkedIn accepts)

LinkedIn does not list a set of accepted legitimate grounds for immediate refunds beyond its published refund policy. The refund policy allows refunds within 7 days from the date charged if there was no Premium usage. For iOS purchases, Apple handles refunds. For EU consumers a 14 day right to cancel may apply.

Applicable law: Refund policy at https://www.linkedin.com/legal/l/refund-policy; Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 for cooling-off.

End of commitment

Most LinkedIn Premium plans are month-to-month or annual with automatic renewal. Cancel at least 1 day before the next billing date to avoid renewal. When you cancel a paid subscription it remains active until the end of the billing cycle.

Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Cooling-off (14 day UK right)

The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give a 14 day cooling-off period for most online contracts. This right is removed for digital content once download or streaming begins with your express consent. If you started a free trial and then the paid service begins, the 14 day period starts when the subscription service begins.

Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

Negotiate or save

Before cancelling: negotiate

LinkedIn is not publicly known to publish standard retention discounts. Use the Help Center to open a direct support request and explain why you want to cancel, asking if a lower cost plan or temporary pause is available. If your subscription was billed via Apple or Google Play, request help from Apple or Google about refund or trial options. There is no published loyalty discount in LinkedIn's help pages.

What cancelling saves you

We compute yearly costs from current UK pricing to show exact savings if you cancel monthly billing or switch to annual:

  • Premium Career: £19.99 x 12 = £239.88 per year. Annual price £149. Saving switching to annual = £239.88 - £149 = £90.88.
  • Premium Business: £39.99 x 12 = £479.88 per year. Annual price £319. Saving switching to annual = £479.88 - £319 = £160.88.
  • Premium All-in-One: £64.00 x 12 = £768.00 per year. Annual price £599.88. Saving switching to annual = £768.00 - £599.88 = £168.12.
  • Sales Navigator Core: £69.99 x 12 = £839.88 per year. Annual price £599. Saving switching to annual = £839.88 - £599 = £240.88.
  • Recruiter Lite: £104.99 x 12 = £1,259.88 per year. Annual price £1,019.88. Saving switching to annual = £1,259.88 - £1,019.88 = £240.00.

Cheapest listed competitor from research: Netbizz at £4.99 per month - annual cost £4.99 x 12 = £59.88 per year.

What to do after cancelling LinkedIn Premium

Check access and features

After cancellation a paid Premium subscription remains active until the end of your billing cycle. At the end of the billing cycle your account returns to Basic and you lose Premium features such as InMail credits, extended profile viewer history, LinkedIn Learning access and Premium badge.

Download invoices and data

Save copies of any invoices or receipts you need for expense claims or tax. Access account payment history in Settings and download receipts before the account transitions to Basic.

Re-activation and lost credits

If you renew later, you will regain access according to the new subscription terms. InMail credits and other consumables do not carry over after the subscription expires unless specified by the plan terms.

Final billing

Verify your payment method was not charged after cancellation and check your card or bank statement. If you were charged incorrectly, open a Help Center case and, if purchased through Apple or Google Play, contact Apple or Google Play.

Next steps and practical checklist

Use this checklist to finalise cancellation and protect your rights.

  • Sign in to LinkedIn and cancel via the route you used to purchase (desktop for direct purchases, Apple/Google for app purchases).
  • Cancel at least 1 day before the next billing date to avoid another charge.
  • Download any invoices or receipts you need for records.
  • Note the cancellation confirmation and the date your Premium access will end.
  • If you want a refund, check the refund rules and submit a request within 7 days if eligible and unused.
  • If the subscription was bought on iOS or Google Play, contact Apple or Google Play for refunds.
  • If you have a billing dispute, collect evidence and contact Citizens Advice or your card issuer for a chargeback or Section 75 claim if applicable.
