Cancel LinkedIn Recruiter the easy way

Core purpose

LinkedIn Recruiter is a talent-sourcing and candidate-relationship platform designed for hiring teams and recruiters to search, message and manage candidates at scale across LinkedIn's network.

Main features

Recruiter variants provide advanced search filters, InMail credits, candidate tracking and integrations with applicant tracking systems and analytics. LinkedIn describes multiple product tiers and capabilities in its Recruiter features documentation.

How organisations use it

Teams use Recruiter to run targeted searches, unlock full profiles, collaborate on candidate pipelines and send InMail messages to prospective hires.

Web (official cancellation)

1. Sign in to the LinkedIn account associated with the Recruiter subscription.
2. Go to Settings & Privacy - Subscriptions and payments or use the official cancel page: Cancel your Recruiter account.
3. Follow on-screen steps to confirm cancellation and record the confirmation message or take a screenshot.
4. Check email for any confirmation message and keep it as proof.

iOS (Apple App Store purchases)

1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
3. Find the LinkedIn/Recruiter subscription and tap Cancel Subscription.
4. For refunds, request via Apple support; LinkedIn cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases.

Android (Google Play purchases)

1. Open Google Play Store and tap your profile.
2. Tap Payments & subscriptions then Subscriptions.
3. Select the LinkedIn/Recruiter subscription and Cancel subscription.
4. For refunds, use Google Play refund process; LinkedIn cannot grant Play Store refunds.

Phone

1. LinkedIn does not publish a public cancellation phone number for Recruiter; for Order Form contracts contact the LinkedIn sales representative identified on your contract.
2. If no direct number, open a support case and request a sales contact or cancellation confirmation.

Email / Support ticket

1. Visit LinkedIn Help Center and submit a support request referencing your Recruiter subscription and account ID.
2. Request explicit cancellation and ask for written confirmation and the effective cancellation date.
3. Keep support ticket numbers and all replies as proof.

Post (registered letter)

1. Prepare a signed cancellation letter including account details and request immediate cancellation.
2. Send by registered post to: LinkedIn Recruiter, 26-28 Hammersmith Grove, W6 7HA London, United Kingdom.
3. Keep the delivery receipt and a copy of the letter.

Moving / relocation

Rule: Moving does not automatically trigger a right to cancel a digital subscription outside the standard cancellation rules. Required proof: proof of relocation (utility bill or tenancy agreement) if you rely on contractual hardship clauses in a bespoke Order Form. Applicable law: Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Price increase

Rule: If LinkedIn increases price mid-contract and the contract permits exit for price increases, you can cancel with immediate effect if the contract terms allow. Required proof: the price increase notice from LinkedIn and the original contract showing consumer rights. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Contract terms scrutiny under CMA guidelines.

Death of subscriber

Rule: Death of the contract holder normally allows the estate to terminate services; provide probate or death certificate and account proof. Required proof: death certificate and account ownership documents. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Legitimate ground (service failure or breach)

Rule: If LinkedIn fails to provide the service with reasonable care and skill, you can demand remedy and, failing that, terminate the contract. Required proof: screenshots, copies of support tickets, dates of failures. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 (service must be performed with reasonable care and skill).

End of commitment

Rule: For annual plans the commitment ends at the paid period conclusion. Required proof: original invoice or confirmation of annual payment. Applicable law: Contract terms and the LinkedIn Subscription Agreement (LSA).

Cooling-off (14-day right)

Rule: Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 UK consumers have a 14-day cancellation period for online contracts starting when the contract is entered into. If you started a free trial and you cancel within 14 days, you may be entitled to a refund or payment for services used to the cancellation date. Required proof: account creation date and cancellation timestamp. Applicable law: Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Before you cancel: negotiate

Retention offers: Research does not identify standard, published retention discounts that LinkedIn automatically offers for Recruiter. To request a retention or discount contact your account representative or open a support case and reference your account ID and contract renewal date. Ask for alternatives such as a discounted annual rate, reduced seat count, or temporary pause; request any offer in writing as a condition of acceptance.

What cancelling saves you - math

Recruiter Lite monthly: £170 per month. Annual listed price: £1,440 per year. Calculation examples:

• Monthly cost x 12: 170 x 12 = £2,040 per year.
• Annual billed amount: £1,440 per year.
• Savings switching from monthly to annual: 2,040 - 1,440 = £600 per year.
• Savings by cancelling Recruiter Lite annual and moving to ATSpro at £49/month: ATSpro yearly = 49 x 12 = £588. Saving = 1,440 - 588 = £852 per year.
• Estimates for Recruiter Corporate per seat range: ~£8,832 per year (that is ~£736/month) based on third-party estimates; moving from a corporate seat at £8,832 to RecSphere at £984/year (82 x 12) would save 8,832 - 984 = £7,848 per seat per year.

Relevant UK law and regulator

The primary rules are the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) oversees unfair contract terms and hard-to-cancel subscriptions in the UK.

Cooling-off and refunds

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have a 14-day cooling-off period for online contracts. If the service starts during the 14 days at your request you may owe payment for services used up to cancellation. Escalation path

Step 1 - Complain to LinkedIn using support channels and keep evidence. Step 2 - If unresolved seek guidance from Citizens Advice and escalate to the CMA for unfair terms. Step 3 - For qualifying card payments, consider a Section 75 claim or chargeback via your card issuer. Applicable laws: Consumer Rights Act 2015; Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

Access and features

When you cancel a paid Recruiter subscription it remains active until the end of the current billing cycle. After that date Recruiter features and InMail credits tied to the subscription are removed.

Data and accounts

Export any candidate lists, notes and contact information before the subscription end date. LinkedIn retains profile and message data under its user agreement; export what you need through account settings.

Final billing and refunds

Check your bank statement for the final authorised charge date. For purchases via Apple or Google request refunds through their processes. For direct purchases, check eligibility for a refund under LinkedIn's refund policy: Official refund policy.

Re-activation

To re-activate, purchase a new Recruiter seat via account settings or contact sales for enterprise contracts. Any promotional or historical pricing is not guaranteed on rejoin.
