Beer 52 is a UK subscription box service that delivers curated selections of craft beers, snacks and a copy of Ferment magazine to subscribers on a regular schedule.

How packages arrive

Boxes arrive every 28 days. Starting with the second order, a delivery charge of £2.95 applies to each order and some remote locations face an additional £2.99 surcharge.

Beer 52 is operated by BEER52 LIMITED, founded in 2013 by James Brown and Fraser Doherty and headquartered in Edinburgh.

Phone (recommended)

1. Call 0131 285 2684 Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00.
2. State your name, email address on the account and request to cancel your subscription.
3. Ask the agent to confirm the effective cancellation date and whether any payment has already been taken.
4. Request an email confirmation and keep it for your records.

Email

1. Send an email to [email protected] with subject "Cancel subscription" and include your full name, account email and next payment date.
2. Ask for written confirmation of cancellation and an effective date.
3. If you do not receive confirmation within 5 working days call 0131 285 2684 to confirm the request.

Post (registered letter)

1. Write a clear cancellation letter including your full name, account email, phone number and statement "I request cancellation of my Beer 52 subscription."
2. Send it by registered post to Beer 52, 20 Young Street, EH2 4JB Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
3. Retain the proof of posting and follow up by phone if no response within 10 working days.

Web account actions

1. Log into your Beer 52 account at Beer 52 site to review upcoming deliveries and billing dates.
2. Note that explicit web cancellation is not published as available; use the phone number above to cancel.

Moving abroad or change of delivery address

If you cannot receive deliveries at your new address, contact Beer 52 support by phone or email and provide proof such as a new utility bill or tenancy contract. Beer 52 does not publish a special rule for relocation; use normal cancellation channels.

Price increase

If Beer 52 increases the price for ongoing deliveries, you may have the right to cancel if the change is a contract variation communicated after contracting. Provide the price change notice as evidence. Contact support and quote the notice.

Death of the subscriber

In the event of the subscriber's death, a close relative or the executor should contact Beer 52 support by phone or email and provide a copy of the death certificate and proof of authority to act on the estate. Beer 52's specific procedure is not published; expect to supply a death certificate for account closure.

Legitimate ground for cancellation (defective or damaged goods)

For defective, damaged or not-as-described items Beer 52 accepts refunds, repairs or replacements. Provide photos and order details and raise the issue through the Help Centre or support email. Beer 52 states all beer boxes come with a 21-day money-back guarantee; opened products will be deducted from the refund.

End of commitment

If you have a fixed-term gift subscription paid upfront, the subscription ends automatically at the end of the prepaid period. For rolling monthly boxes billed every 28 days, cancel by phone before the 11:59 pm day prior to the next payment to stop further boxes. Provide billing dates to confirm when the last paid box will be delivered.

Cooling-off period

The 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply to perishable goods or periodicals. Beer 52 is considered a subscription for periodicals and perishable goods, so Reg 28(1)(b) and 28(1)(c) exclude a change-of-mind cooling-off right. For defective goods, statutory remedies still apply.

Before you cancel: negotiate

Agents at Beer 52 are known to offer retention deals and upgrades when customers call to cancel. Research testimonials show some customers were offered reduced deals or alternative options during the call. After cancellation confirm the effective cancellation date and whether the next payment has already been taken. If a payment was taken before cancellation it will be processed and that order will be delivered; no further payments should be taken.

Request confirmation of account closure and ask Beer 52 to confirm which personal data they will retain and for how long. You can request deletion of personal data under applicable data protection rules; include your account email in the request.

Re-activation

If you want to return later you can re-subscribe via the Beer 52 website. Any promotional rates previously offered at cancellation are not guaranteed to be available on re-subscription.
