Cancel NOW Boost the easy way

Overview

NOW Boost is an add-on subscription for NOW memberships that upgrades streaming quality and audio. Boost and Ultra Boost are optional extras that sit on top of a NOW Entertainment, Cinema or Sports membership.

Main features

Boost adds Full HD 1080p streaming, Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, ad-free viewing for selected content and 2 simultaneous streams for £6 per month. Ultra Boost adds up to 4K Ultra HD HDR, Dolby Atmos sound and 3 simultaneous streams for £9 per month.

Service positioning and requirements

Both Boost options auto-renew monthly and require a base NOW membership. A 1-month free trial is offered for new customers. Minimum internet speed requirements from research: 12 Mbps for Boost and 30 Mbps for Ultra Boost. Features are available only on selected content and compatible devices.

Web - cancel via Membership & Payment

1. Open a desktop, laptop or tablet and sign in to your NOW account at the NOW website.
2. Navigate to the 'Membership & Payment' section of your account.
3. Locate your Boost or Ultra Boost add-on under active memberships or add-ons.
4. Select 'Cancel' for Boost or Ultra Boost and follow the on-screen prompts.
5. A confirmation message will appear on screen; expect a confirmation email within 3 hours.

iOS - cancel if billed through Apple

1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad and tap your Apple ID name.
2. Select 'Subscriptions', find NOW Month Membership or Boost/Ultra Boost listed under Apple billing.
3. Tap the subscription and choose 'Cancel Subscription'.
4. If Boost/Ultra Boost is billed by Apple separately you must cancel the Boost add-on directly in Apple subscriptions.

Android / Google Play

1. Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device and tap your profile icon.
2. Choose 'Payments & subscriptions' then 'Subscriptions'.
3. Select NOW or the Boost add-on and tap 'Cancel subscription'.
4. You will receive confirmation from Google Play by email.

Phone

1. NOW's public phone number is not published in the research data; use the web help to request a callback if available.
2. When connected, provide account details and request cancellation of Boost or Ultra Boost.
3. Ask for a confirmation email or reference number and note the time and agent name.

Email

1. Email NOW support via the account help or the support email provided in official pages; include your account email, last 4 digits of the payment card and request cancellation of Boost or Ultra Boost.
2. Keep the sent message and wait for a confirmation email within 3 hours to a few days depending on queue.

Post (registered letter)

1. Send a registered letter to: NOW Boost, Example Street, EC1A 1AA London, United Kingdom. Include account name, account email, subscription name, last 4 digits of card and a clear statement 'Please cancel my NOW Boost / Ultra Boost subscription'.
2. Keep proof of postage and record the delivery receipt number.
3. Processing can take 5-10 working days after delivery.

Moving abroad (relocation)

If you move and cannot use the NOW service in the new country you should cancel via the Membership & Payment area or by contacting support and provide proof of new address such as a council tax, utility bill or tenancy agreement. The applicable law is the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for service performance and contract fairness.

Price increase

If NOW increases the price of Boost or Ultra Boost and your contract allows changes, check the membership communications they sent. If you do not accept the increase you can cancel before the new price takes effect. Keep the price increase notice email as proof. Death of subscriber

Next of kin or executor should contact support and supply a death certificate and proof of authority to act on the account to request cancellation. Contracts terminate under normal contract law; the Consumer Rights Act 2015 supports fair treatment of consumers in such cases.

Legitimate ground - service fault or misdescription

If Boost or Ultra Boost is not delivered with reasonable care and skill or not as described, raise a complaint with NOW and request cancellation and remedy. Evidence: screenshots, stream quality tests and device details. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015.

End of commitment

If you are on a minimum-term plan, you may cancel but the cancellation will not take effect until the end of the minimum term and remaining monthly payments will still be taken. Cooling-off period (14 days)

For online contracts customers have a 14-day cooling-off right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 for most purchases of services. For digital content streaming, if you expressly agreed the service should start during the cooling-off period and acknowledged you would lose the right to cancel, that right may be lost. Before you cancel: negotiate

Research shows NOW offers retention handling through the Membership & Payment area, which may include downgrade options or limited-time discounts, but specific offers are not published. To request retention offers: sign in, go to Membership & Payment, select Cancel and when prompted choose the option to speak to customer support or request retention. Ask for a price-match or temporary discount and request the offer in writing.

Boost: £6 x 12 = £72 per year.

Ultra Boost: £9 x 12 = £108 per year.

Key UK consumer laws

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires services to be performed with reasonable care and skill and forbids unfair contract terms. Auto-renewal and complaint escalation

Data and re-activation

NOW retains account data for their account management purposes. To re-activate Boost or Ultra Boost, sign into your account and add the Boost add-on again. If you were billed via Apple or Google Play, re-activate through those stores if you previously used them for billing.
