Cancel by reason

Cooling-off period (14 days)

If you cancel within 14 days of signing up you are entitled to a refund of subscription fees paid under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Curve states you will receive a refund if you cancel within the first 14 days. Delivery fees may not be refundable.

Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 - legislation.gov.uk.

End of minimum commitment

Curve Pay Pro+ has a 6 month minimum for monthly payment plans and a 12 month minimum for annual payments. After the minimum period you must give at least 1 month notice before the end of your current subscription period. If you cancel after the minimum period, notify them before your next monthly fee is due.

Applicable rule: Curve subscription schedule as published on the Curve subscriptions page.

Price increase

Curve's published subscription schedule governs fees and renewal. If Curve increases prices this does not automatically create a statutory right to immediate termination unless the change is unilateral and contrary to your contract terms or constitutes an unfair term under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Contact support with your contract reference if you dispute the change.

Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Moving abroad

Curve does not publish a specific relocation cancellation policy. To cancel for this reason, contact [email protected] and provide proof of new address or proof of move. Curve will process requests according to its subscriptions terms.

Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 for distance contracts where cooling-off may apply.

Death of subscriber

Curve does not publish a dedicated policy for death of subscriber. To request cancellation on behalf of a deceased account holder, contact [email protected] and be prepared to provide legal proof such as probate documents or a death certificate. Curve's responses are handled on a case by case basis.

Applicable law: Non specific in Curve public documentation; contact support and the Financial Ombudsman if you cannot resolve a dispute.

Legitimate grounds accepted by Curve (based on published terms)

Curve accepts standard cooling-off cancellations within 14 days and accepts cancellations after minimum periods with 1 month notice for Pro+. Other claims such as refund requests during cooling-off for downgrades or cancellations may incur fees: £5.99 for Curve X card and £59.99 for Curve Metal if cancelled during certain periods. Delivery fees of £5.99 are not refunded in some cases.

Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Negotiate or save

Before cancelling: negotiate

Curve does not publish an extensive retention programme. There are no public, standard retention discounts listed. You can request a downgrade, ask for a promotional offer or request a refund if you are within the 14 day cooling-off period. To negotiate, contact support via the app or email [email protected] and state clearly that you are considering cancellation and what outcome you want - e.g. a temporary discount, a one-off refund or a downgrade.

What the cancellation will save you

Calculate your yearly cost and your saving if you cancel and switch to a free alternative.

Curve Pay (Free) - £0 per month; yearly cost: £0 x 12 = £0 per year.

Curve Pay X - £5.99 per month; yearly cost: £5.99 x 12 = £71.88 per year.

Curve Pay Pro - £9.99 per month; yearly cost: £9.99 x 12 = £119.88 per year. Annual pay option: £99.90 per year.

Curve Pay Pro+ - £17.99 per month; yearly cost: £17.99 x 12 = £215.88 per year. Annual pay option: £179.90 per year.

Cheapest alternative among competitors listed: Monzo at £0 per month. Example saving if switching from Curve Pay Pro+: £17.99 x 12 = £215.88 - £0 = £215.88 saved per year. If you switch from Curve Pay Pro annual (£99.90) to Monzo (£0) you save £99.90 per year.

What to do after cancelling Curve

Check final billing

After you cancel, confirm the date the cancellation takes effect and check the final payment on your bank/credit card statement. Curve states you will remain charged and have services until the end of your paid period. No refund will be provided for the current month if cancelling outside the cooling-off period for Curve Pay, Curve Pay X and Curve Pay Pro.

Access to account and data

Save copies of important statements or receipts from the Curve app before your account loses subscription benefits. If you closed your account entirely request a data export from Curve support if you need transaction history for taxes or disputes.

Re-activation

You can re-subscribe at any time using the Curve app or website. Note that Pro+ monthly subscriptions have minimum periods (6 months) and annual subscriptions have 12 month minimums for renewals; check the subscriptions page before re-activating. See Curve subscriptions.

Next steps and practical checklist

Follow this checklist to cancel cleanly and keep proof.

  • Find your subscription renewal date in the Curve app or subscription page.
  • Decide whether you are cancelling within the 14 day cooling-off period for a refund.
  • Use the app or subscriptions page to cancel; if you prefer send an email to [email protected] or a registered letter to the postal address.
  • Save confirmation email or take screenshots of in-app cancellation pages.
