Moving house
Rule: Moving address is not listed by AO Five Star as an automatic ground for early cancellation that triggers a refund. If you are moving and cannot use benefits you should contact AO support and ask for an exceptional cancellation; AO does not publish a guaranteed refund policy for moves.
Required proof documents: proof of new address (utility bill or tenancy agreement) and membership details. Applicable law: Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 for your cancellation rights if you cancel within the cooling-off period.
Price increase
Rule: If AO increases membership price at renewal and the contract allows automatic renewal without fresh consent, you can cancel before the new charge is taken. AO does not publish specific price increase compensation rules for Five Star.
Required proof documents: membership details and any communication from AO showing the price increase.
Death of the subscriber
Rule: AO does not publish a specific process for death of a subscriber. Contact AO customer service with evidence. Where relevant, next of kin should request account closure and provide documentation.
Required proof documents: copy of death certificate and proof of identity of the person requesting cancellation. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 obligations for fair contract terms.
Legitimate ground / cooling-off
Rule: You have a 14-day statutory cooling-off period from the date you entered the contract to cancel and receive a full refund where no benefits have been used. If you asked AO to start services within the 14 days and benefits were used, AO can deduct the cost of provided services from the refund. If the value of used benefits exceeds the membership fee no refund is due.
Required proof documents: membership purchase confirmation and the cancellation request within 14 days. Applicable law: Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
End of commitment
Rule: If you cancel after the 14-day cooling-off period you will not receive a refund but you will continue to receive membership benefits until the anniversary of the last payment. No notice period beyond that date is required.
Required proof documents: membership details and the cancellation request. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 regarding contract fairness and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 for cancellation and information requirements.
