Cooling-off period (first 14 days)
Rule - You have a 14-day cooling-off right from the date you signed up to cancel and receive a full refund if you cancel within that period. If you used membership benefits during that period, AO Five Star may deduct the cost of those benefits; if the value of used benefits exceeds the membership price, no refund is given.
Required proof - Order date, membership start date and your cancellation request (email or recorded post). Applicable law - Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. See UK cooling-off legislation.
End of commitment / Annual membership
Rule - Outside the 14-day cooling-off period, cancelling does not produce a pro-rata refund; you will continue to receive benefits until the end of your current annual membership period. Cancellation takes effect from the anniversary of the last payment.
Required proof - Membership payment date and confirmation of cancellation (phone reference, email or recorded post receipt). Applicable law - Consumer Rights Act 2015 for unfair terms when relevant.
Price increase
Rule - Research does not publish a specific price-increase cancellation policy for AO Five Star. If a price increase is applied mid-contract, check your membership terms and seek a written explanation from AO. Under UK consumer law an unexpected or hidden term may be challenged.
Required proof - Notification of price increase and your account records. Applicable law - Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Moving address / relocation
Rule - If you move outside the service area (membership is for mainland UK excluding Northern Ireland) you should notify AO Five Star and request cancellation. AO Five Star must confirm acceptance of this reason when it affects service eligibility.
Required proof - Proof of new address such as a utility bill or tenancy agreement and your cancellation request.
Death of subscriber
Rule - In the event of a subscriber's death, next of kin or executor should contact AO Five Star with a copy of the death certificate to request account closure and cancellation.
Required proof - Death certificate and proof of authority to act for the estate. Applicable law - Common law obligations and contract termination practices.
Legitimate grounds accepted by AO Five Star
Rule - Research shows AO Five Star has not published a list of specific "legitimate grounds" accepted for early termination beyond usual cooling-off and service-area restrictions.
Required proof - Provide documentary evidence aligned with the reason you state and request written confirmation. Applicable law - Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 where relevant.
