Web (recommended)

1. Open your browser and go to https://mega.nz/account.
2. Log in with your MEGA credentials.
3. Open the 'Plans' or 'Account' area and locate your active subscription.
4. Select the option to cancel or stop renewal and follow the on-screen prompts.
5. Save the on-screen confirmation and any email confirmation you receive.

iOS (Apple App Store)

1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
3. Find the MEGA subscription and tap Cancel Subscription.
4. Use Apple's support if you need a refund because MEGA cannot process Apple billing refunds.

Android (Google Play)

1. Open the Google Play Store app.
2. Tap your profile icon, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
3. Select MEGA and choose Cancel subscription.
4. Save the confirmation email from Google Play.

Email

1. Compose an email to [email protected] from the email address on the account.
2. Include your full name, account email, subscription ID and a clear statement: "Please cancel my MEGA subscription immediately."
3. Keep the sent email and any reply as proof.

Post

1. Write a signed letter with account email, full name and statement: "Please cancel my MEGA subscription immediately."
2. Send the letter by registered post to: Mega, Example Street, EC1A 1AA London, United Kingdom.
3. Keep the postal receipt as proof of delivery.

Moving abroad or change of circumstances

If you move or your circumstances change and you want to cancel, you should cancel via the web or by email. Provide documentation such as a new address or proof of change when requested. MEGA's published process for cancellation is via account or the app stores; there is no special relocation cancellation clause published by MEGA.

Price increase

If MEGA increases the subscription price and you object to the new price you may cancel your subscription. Provide the date of the price increase notice and your account details as proof. The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 requires traders to provide an end of contract notice and refund any overpayment.

Death of subscriber

To cancel because of the account holder's death, contact MEGA at [email protected] and provide a copy of the death certificate and proof you are the executor or authorised representative. MEGA's published materials do not list a specific process, so evidence should be attached to the support request.

Legitimate ground - breach or service failure

Legitimate grounds include material failure to provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 services must be performed with reasonable care and skill. Document examples such as repeated app crashes, failed transfers or inaccessible Cloud Drive folders and attach screenshots or logs to your complaint.

End of commitment

If your plan has a fixed term, cancel before renewal in your account settings or follow the app store cancellation rules. If MEGA does not publish a notice period, cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal to be safe and retain proof of cancellation.

Cooling-off rights

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have a 14 day cooling-off period for contracts concluded online. If you purchased a digital subscription and gave express consent for immediate download or streaming, the digital content exception may apply. Before you cancel - how to negotiate retention

MEGA does not publish a standard retention offer on its public help pages. When you contact support by email or via the account interface, ask for a retention discount or downgrading options. Suggested message: "I want to keep using MEGA but need a lower cost plan. Can you offer a discounted monthly rate or move me to Pro Lite for £3.99/month?" If charged through Apple or Google Play you must request any billing changes via the store that handled payment.

The main laws that protect UK consumers are the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Access and data retention

After cancellation you should download any files you need. MEGA does not publish a single universal retention period for data after cancellation. Final billing and refunds

MEGA's published refund policy states payments are generally non refundable except where applicable law provides otherwise or specific offers allow refunds. EU residents have 14 days to request a full refund; Brazil and South Korea have 7 days; if MEGA charged after an effective cancellation they will promptly refund that charge. Reactivation

You can reactivate by re subscribing on the MEGA account page or via the store you used to pay. Reactivation restores access to new plan features but does not guarantee restoration of deleted data if the account was emptied during the cancellation period.

• Download any files you want to keep to local storage or another cloud provider.
• Cancel the subscription in the payment platform that handled the charge - web, Apple App Store or Google Play.
