Cancel Strava the easy way

Overview

Strava is a multi-sport activity tracking platform that records GPS runs, rides and other workouts, provides social sharing and hosts leaderboards and challenges.

Who it is for

Strava targets runners, cyclists, hikers and other active individuals who want to record workouts, compare performance and join a community.

Web (Strava website)

1. Go to Strava Help - How to Cancel.
2. Sign in at https://www.strava.com/.
3. Open Settings > My Subscription (Account Page) and select Cancel Subscription.
4. Follow on-screen prompts to confirm cancellation. You will receive on-screen confirmation and an email.
5. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

iOS (Apple)

1. Open iPhone Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
2. Find Strava and choose Cancel Subscription.
3. Apple handles refunds and subscription management. Strava cannot issue refunds for Apple purchases. For details see Strava Subscription Pricing FAQ.

Android (Google Play)

1. Open Google Play Store > Profile > Payments & Subscriptions > Subscriptions.
2. Select Strava and Cancel Subscription.
3. Google handles refunds for Play purchases; Strava support cannot directly issue Play refunds.

Phone

1. Strava does not publish a phone cancellation facility. Use the Account Page or app store controls.
2. If you call third-party merchants that charged you, keep records and ask for a cancellation confirmation email or written note.

Email

1. Email [email protected] stating your account email, subscription type and request to Cancel.
2. Include screenshot of subscription page if possible. Keep the reply email as proof.

Post (registered letter)

1. Write a signed cancellation request including account email, full name and subscription details.
2. Send by registered post to: Strava, Redcliffe Way, BS1 6NL Bristol, United Kingdom.
3. Keep proof of posting and delivery receipt. Processing times are not published by Strava.

Moving / Change of country

If you move country and local law gives additional rights you may rely on local consumer protections. Provide proof of address change such as utility bill or new ID. Strava documentation does not list specific forms but will consider requests via support. Applicable law: Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 where relevant to renewals.

Price increase

If Strava raises the subscription price at renewal, you can cancel before renewal. Keep the renewal email that notifies price change. Strava must send renewal or pricing notices per its pricing communications; save the notification email as proof. Applicable law: Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.

Death of subscriber

Provide a copy of the death certificate and account details. Strava does not publish a dedicated probate procedure; contact support at [email protected] with documents.

Legitimate ground

Strava accepts reasons set out in its Terms but does not list specific "legitimate grounds" in public documentation. Provide documentary evidence for the claim you make when contacting support. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 for unfair contract terms and service performance.

End of commitment

Strava subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before renewal. If you are in an annual paid period, your subscription ends at the end of that paid billing period when you cancel. No minimum commitment is published by Strava.

Cooling-off period (14 days)

Under Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have a 14-day right to cancel for most online contracts, with refund, unless you expressly agreed that digital content would start immediately. Strava states users outside the United States may be entitled to a full refund within 14 days by contacting Strava Support. Before cancelling: negotiate

Strava does not publish standard retention discounts. There are no explicit retention offers documented in the support pages. To request a retention offer, contact [email protected] or use the Account Page message feature. Ask for promotional pricing, student discount verification if applicable, or a switch to an annual plan.

What cancelling saves you

Current published Strava pricing: Subscriber is £8.99 per month or £55 per year. Math: Monthly cost 8.99 x 12 = £107.88 per year. Annual cost = £55. Annual saving if you switch from monthly to annual: 107.88 - 55 = £52.88 per year.

Combined Strava/Runna plan listed in research: £120 per year.

Cheapest real alternative from our competitor list: MERC annual £29.99. If you cancel Strava annual at £55 and take MERC annual at £29.99 you save 55 - 29.99 = £25.01 per year. Relevant laws: Consumer Rights Act 2015 (services must be performed with reasonable care and skill); Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (14-day cooling-off period for online contracts); Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (renewal cooling-off and notices). The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) monitors unfair auto-renewal practices.

The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 provide a 14-day right to cancel for most online purchases with refund, subject to the digital content exception if you consented to immediate access. How to escalate a dispute

Step 1: Complain to Strava via support and keep records. Step 2: If unresolved, contact Citizens Advice for guidance and the CMA for issues about auto-renewal or hard-to-cancel subscriptions. Payment escalation: use chargeback with your card issuer or Section 75 claim for qualifying card payments. Consumer Contracts Regulations and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 support refunds for unlawful contract terms or failure of service.

Access and features

When you cancel access to Subscriber features remains until the end of the current billing period. After that you lose subscription-only features such as Live Segments, Athlete Intelligence and detailed performance analytics.

Data and exports

Export your activities and GPX files before the end of the billing period. Use the Strava website to export single activities or a bulk export via account settings if you want a full archive.

Final billing and refunds

Strava states no refunds are provided unless set out in its Terms. Users outside the United States may be entitled under local law to a full refund within 14 days of subscribing. Re-activation

You can re-subscribe at any time using the same account. Re-activation restores Subscriber features from the date of the new payment; past billing periods are not pro-rated or restored.

Follow this checklist before and after you cancel to protect your rights and data.

• Find your renewal date in your Account > My Subscription.
• Decide whether to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to prevent a fresh charge.
• Download or export any GPX, photos or activity data you want to keep.
• Cancel using the same platform where you subscribed: website, Apple or Google Play.
• Save confirmation screens and any confirmation emails as proof.
• If you subscribed within the last 14 days and want a refund, contact Strava Support immediately and reference the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 or Digital Markets Act 2024.
• If purchase was via Apple or Google, request a refund via Apple or Google Play as Strava cannot directly refund those purchases.
• If you cannot resolve a dispute, contact Citizens Advice and consider chargeback or Section 75 if your payment method qualifies.
