Company facts

Web (Notion account / Billing)

1. Sign in to your Notion workspace at your desktop or browser.
2. Open Settings & Members > Settings > Plans and Billing (or Billing tab).
3. If you used Notion to subscribe online or via Google Pay, use the in-app support link or email [email protected] to request cancellation and any eligible refund.
4. Keep the confirmation email or in-app message as proof.

iOS (Apple App Store)

1. On your iPhone or iPad open the App Store and tap your profile.
2. Tap Subscriptions, select Notion and choose Cancel Subscription.
3. For refunds, contact Apple as Notion indicates App Store purchases must be handled by Apple: see the App Store support in your Apple account.
4. Save the App Store purchase record and any email from Apple.

Android (Google Play)

1. Open Google Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions > Notion.
2. Tap Cancel subscription and follow prompts.
3. If your purchase used Google Pay and you need a refund, contact Notion support via in-app help or [email protected].

Phone

1. Notion does not publish a direct phone number for billing support; phone + hours: Not published by Notion.
2. Use email or in-app support to open a case and request a callback if required.

Email

1. Send email to [email protected] with subject 'Cancel subscription' and include workspace name, billing email, last 4 digits of card or invoice number.
2. Request written confirmation of cancellation and any refund eligibility.

Post

1. Address a signed letter to Notion, 51 Lloyd Baker Street, WC1X 9AA London, United Kingdom stating the account email and request to cancel.
2. Send by registered post and keep the delivery receipt.

Moving / Moving

Rule - Notion subscriptions are digital services; moving address does not automatically terminate a digital subscription. Evidence - proof of change of address does not create entitlement to refund under Notion policy in research. Applicable law - Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 does not make relocation itself a statutory ground for refund.

Price increase

Rule - If Notion raises the price at renewal, UK law requires clear information for renewal cooling-off and refund rights for changes that materially affect the contract. Evidence - copy of notification from Notion and screenshots of new price. Applicable law - Consumer Rights Act 2024, cooling-off rules for renewal periods: see Consumer Rights Act 2024.

Death of subscriber

Rule - Death of the account holder does not appear in Notion help as an automatic ground for refund. Evidence - death certificate and proof of account ownership should be provided to support a refund request; contact Notion support at [email protected].

Legitimate ground (service breach)

Rule - Notion's Terms state subscriptions are non-cancelable/nonrefundable except in case of 'uncured material breach' by Notion. Evidence - copies of errors, downtime logs, support case references showing uncured breach. Applicable law - Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires services to be performed with reasonable care and skill; an uncured material breach may trigger remedies.

End of commitment

Rule - If you have an annual plan, cancellation generally does not produce an automatic refund unless within Notion refund windows; contact support for proration or credit. Evidence - your invoice and payment proof. Applicable law - Contract terms and Notion's published refund windows.

Cooling-off period (distance contract)

Rule - For online contracts consumers have a 14 day cooling-off right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 for distance contracts, unless digital content supply began with express consent and acknowledgement of loss of right. Evidence - proof of date of purchase and any express consent forms or checkboxes. Applicable law - Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (2013 regulations) and Consumer Rights Act 2024 cooling-off provisions (2024 Act).

Before cancelling: negotiate

Retention offers - Notion's public resources and help pages do not list standard retention discounts. To request a retention offer, contact support via in-app help or email [email protected], state your workspace, current plan and desired budget, and ask for available discounts or downgrades.

What cancelling saves you

Compute yearly savings by cancelling a paid plan and switching to Free.

• Plus monthly: £10 x 12 = £120/year saved if cancelling Plus monthly and moving to Free.
• Plus annual: £96/year saved if cancelling an annual Plus plan and moving to Free.

• Business annual: £192/year saved if cancelling an annual Business plan and moving to Free.
• App Store Plus (if billed at £11.99/month): £11.99 x 12 = £143.88/year saved if cancelling that subscription.

Relevant UK law and regulator

The main laws are the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2024. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and local Trading Standards enforce consumer protections for subscriptions.

Cooling-off and refunds

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have a 14 day right to cancel a distance contract. The Consumer Rights Act 2024 extends cooling-off and renewal protections; a trader must provide a cooling-off notice on renewal. If digital content supply began with your express consent and acknowledgement that you lose the right, cooling-off may not apply.

Escalation steps

Step 1: Complain to Notion via in-app support or [email protected] and request confirmation.

Step 2: If unresolved, contact Citizens Advice and local Trading Standards or the CMA for guidance on unfair subscription terms.

Step 3: For card payments qualify for Section 75 or ask your bank for a chargeback if eligible.

Access and data

Export your workspace content before cancellation. Notion allows export of pages and databases; export formats include Markdown, CSV and HTML. Keep local copies of critical documents and attachments.

Final billing and credits

If you paid annually and are eligible for a refund under Notion's refund windows (3 days for monthly invoices, 30 days for annual invoices for refund requests per research), request the refund in writing to [email protected]. For App Store purchases request refunds through Apple.

Re-activation

To re-activate your workspace sign in and choose a plan. Data retention and recovery policies are controlled by Notion; keep your export in case data is removed after extended inactivity.

Before and after you cancel, follow this checklist to protect data and money.

• Identify which account email and payment card were used for the subscription.
• Export workspace data: pages, databases and attachments in Markdown/CSV/HTML.
• If purchased via Apple App Store, open Apple > Subscriptions to cancel and request any refund from Apple.
• If purchased online or via Google Pay, email [email protected] with invoice details and request cancellation and refund if within refund windows.
• Keep proof: emails from Notion, App Store receipts, Google Play receipts, and postal receipt if you sent a registered letter.
