Cancel MGM+ the easy way

Overview

MGM+ is a premium streaming channel that offers original series, films and curated library titles from the MGM and LIONSGATE libraries. In the United Kingdom MGM+ is distributed as an Amazon Prime Video Channel only; there is no separate MGM+ app or subscription purchase in the UK at this time.

How UK access works

In the United Kingdom you subscribe to MGM+ by adding the MGM+ channel inside Amazon Prime Video. Subscriptions require an active Amazon Prime account and follow Amazon channel billing rules.

Company facts

Web - cancel via Amazon website

1. Go to your Amazon account and sign in with the account used to subscribe to MGM+.
2. Open Account settings and select "Memberships & Subscriptions" or "Prime Video Channels".
3. Find the MGM+ channel in your active channels list and click "Cancel Channel" or "Do not renew".
4. Follow on-screen confirmation steps until you see a cancellation confirmation screen.
5. Save or screenshot the confirmation and keep the confirmation email from Amazon as proof.

iOS / Android - cancel via Prime Video app

1. Open the Prime Video app on your device and sign in to the same Amazon account used to subscribe.
2. Open Settings or tap your profile and select "Channels" or "Manage Channels".
3. Select MGM+ and choose "Cancel Channel" or equivalent.
4. Confirm cancellation; save the on-screen confirmation and the confirmation email from Amazon.

Amazon customer service

1. Visit Amazon Help and choose contact options: chat or phone.
2. Request that the agent cancel the MGM+ channel on your account and ask for a confirmation reference number or confirmation email.
3. Keep the agent reference and the confirmation email as proof.

Post - cancellation by letter

1. Write a signed letter clearly stating you cancel the MGM+ subscription and include your Amazon account email and subscriber name.
2. Send the letter by registered post to: MGM+, 245 N Beverly Dr, 90210 Beverly Hills, USA.
3. Keep the registered post receipt and delivery proof. Allow time for the merchant and Amazon to process the request.

Moving abroad

If you move and your new location prevents access, provide proof of new address such as a utility bill or tenancy agreement and request cancellation via your Amazon account or by sending proof to Amazon customer service. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 for service performance obligations.

Price increase

If MGM+ or Amazon increases the price, you may cancel if the change breaches your existing contract terms. Provide the price increase notice sent by the trader as proof. Applicable law: Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCCA) and Consumer Rights Act 2015 for unfair contract terms.

Death of subscriber

Provide a copy of the death certificate and the account holder details; request cancellation via Amazon customer service or by sending documents to the account administrator. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 for contract termination on personal incapacity.

Legitimate ground - trader breach

Legitimate grounds include breach of implied term that services are performed with reasonable care and skill (Consumer Rights Act 2015) and failure to provide cooling-off notice for renewals under DMCCA 2024. Provide screenshots, copies of error messages, proof of withheld service or copies of renewal notices as required. Applicable law: Consumer Rights Act 2015 and DMCCA 2024 part 4.

End of commitment / contract finish

If your access ends at the end of a paid period, cancel before the renewal date inside your Amazon account to avoid the next charge. Provide your account email and cancellation confirmation as proof. Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 for renewal transparency.

Cooling-off (initial or renewal)

Under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 you have a 14-day initial cooling-off period and a 14-day renewal cooling-off period after trials or 12-month auto-renewals. To cancel during a cooling-off period provide a clear statement of decision to cancel to the trader (notify Amazon/MGM+) and request any due refund. See DMCCA cooling-off rights.

Before cancelling: negotiate

MGM+ is known to offer retention discounts in some cases according to research notes: "discount to stay". Ask Amazon customer service or use the "Contact us" chat and request a retention offer before cancelling. Script: sign in to Amazon, open Help > Contact Us, ask an agent for any retention discount available for MGM+ and request the exact terms (price and duration) in writing. If the agent offers a discounted rate write down the new price and expiry date and keep the confirmation email.

What cancelling saves you

Standard MGM+ monthly price: 1 x 5.99 GBP per month. Yearly cost: 5.99 GBP x 12 = 71.88 GBP per year.

Promotional example 1: 2.99 GBP for 2 months then 5.99 GBP monthly. Yearly cost: (2 x 2.99) + (10 x 5.99) = 5.98 + 59.90 = 65.88 GBP per year.

Promotional example 2: Annual promotional price 19.99 GBP for 12 months. Yearly cost: 19.99 GBP per year.

Cheapest real alternative from competitors: Disney+ monthly 4.99 GBP or annual 59.88 GBP. Switching from standard MGM+ (71.88 GBP) to Disney+ annual saves 71.88 GBP - 59.88 GBP = 12.00 GBP per year.

Key UK consumer law

Relevant laws include the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCCA). The DMCCA implements new subscription protections including 14-day cooling-off periods and requirements for renewal notices. Cooling-off and refunds

The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 provide a 14-day cooling-off right for most remote contracts; DMCCA 2024 preserves and extends renewal cooling-off rights. If you cancel during a cooling-off period you must notify the trader with a clear statement and you are entitled to a refund subject to rules on consumed digital content. How to escalate

First complain to the trader (via Amazon or MGM+). If unresolved, contact Citizens Advice for guidance and the Competition and Markets Authority for unfair contract terms. For payment disputes use Section 75 or bank chargeback if the payment qualifies. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers service quality disputes.

Access after cancellation

If you cancel during a paid period you usually retain access until the end of the paid billing period. If you cancel within a cooling-off period you may be entitled to a refund and immediate termination if specified by the regulations; request clarification from Amazon customer service.

Data and account

Your viewing history and watchlist remain in your Amazon account. To remove personal data request data deletion via Amazon account settings or Amazon Help. MGMPlus does not publish a separate UK data deletion address; use Amazon data controls for channel-related data.

Final billing and refunds

There is no cancellation fee (0). If you cancel within a cooling-off period request a refund and include your cancellation confirmation. If Amazon or MGM+ terminates the service with 14 days notice they must prorate and refund any unused paid period under the reported refund rules.

Re-activation

To re-subscribe add MGM+ again inside Prime Video Channels. Promotional offers may be account-specific; check offer terms before re-activating.
