Moving abroad

If you move abroad and your payment method or regional availability prevents access, show proof of address change such as a utility bill or official change of address. End of commitment and cooling-off

Monthly plans have no minimum commitment and can be cancelled at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. For contracts concluded online, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 grant a 14-day cooling-off period from the start of the contract with a right to a full refund unless you have expressly consented to the service starting and used it. If you started streaming and consented, MUBI can deduct a proportionate amount for the service used.

Before you cancel: negotiate

MUBI does not publish a standard retention offer publicly. You can request offers by contacting [email protected] or using in-account chat if available. Ask for a discounted rate, an extended trial or a pause in billing. If you subscribed via Apple or Google, request a refund or offer through their support channels as they control billing for those subscriptions.

Your cancellation and refunds rights

In the UK, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 provide a 14-day cooling-off period for contracts concluded online. You can cancel within 14 days and receive a full refund unless you explicitly agreed that the service would start immediately and you have used it; in that case the trader can deduct a proportionate amount for the service used. Service quality and unfair contract terms

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires services to be performed with reasonable care and skill. Unfair contract terms, including disproportionate cancellation penalties, may not be binding. The Competition and Markets Authority treats hard-to-cancel subscriptions and unclear auto-renewal terms as potential unfair trading practices.

How to escalate a dispute
