EA Play membership explained

EA Access, marketed as EA Play, is a paid membership that gives subscribers unlimited access to a library of EA titles, time-limited trials for new releases and member discounts on EA digital purchases.

How EA Play works across platforms

Membership applies to a single platform at a time. If you bought EA Play through the App Store or Google Play you must cancel through that store. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled.

Company facts

Web (EA Help / account)

1. Go to your EA account or visit EA Help and sign in.
2. Open Account Settings - Subscriptions or manage subscriptions for the platform you used to sign up.
3. Find the EA Play / EA Play Pro membership and choose Cancel Subscription.
4. Confirm cancellation and keep the on-screen confirmation or confirmation email as proof. Access remains until the period ends.

iOS (App Store)

1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and tap your profile icon.
2. Tap Subscriptions, locate EA Play and tap Cancel Subscription.
3. Keep the App Store confirmation screen or email for your records.
4. If EA Play was purchased via the App Store, cancellation must be completed on the App Store.

Android (Google Play)

1. Open Google Play, tap your profile, then Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
2. Select EA Play and tap Cancel subscription.
3. Save the confirmation email or screenshot of the cancellation screen.
4. If EA Play was purchased via Google Play, cancellation must be completed there.

Phone

1. Visit help.ea.com and request to contact Customer Support for cancellations.
2. Provide account details and request cancellation. Ask the agent for a reference number.
3. Keep the reference number and agent name as proof.

Email / Help ticket

1. Open a request at help.ea.com and choose the relevant game or service, platform PC and Orders or Subscriptions as needed.
2. Request cancellation and retain the ticket number and correspondence.

Post (registered letter)

1. Write a clear cancellation letter with account name, EA ID and purchase details.
2. Send by recorded delivery to EA Access, Onslow Street, GU1 4TN Guildford, United Kingdom.
3. Keep the postal receipt. EA may take 5-10 working days to process written cancellations.

Moving / change of country

If you permanently move to a country where the subscription is not offered, contact EA Help with proof of address change such as a utility bill or government ID. EA's terms require cancelling via the platform you used. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies if the service cannot be supplied as agreed.

Price increase

If EA increases the subscription price during a current period without your agreement you can cancel. Provide the notice of price increase from EA as proof. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 services must be performed with reasonable care and skill; significant unilateral changes can justify cancellation and a partial refund.

Death of subscriber

To cancel because of the subscriber's death, contact EA Help and supply a copy of the death certificate and evidence linking the account to the deceased (account email, order number). EA will process account closure steps after verification.

Legitimate grounds accepted by EA

Research identifies two legitimate grounds that may justify cancellation and refund: significant changes to subscription terms and a substantial reduction of the game library. Provide EA's notification of the change or proof of removed titles. Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies for unsatisfactory service.

End of commitment

EA Play has no minimum fixed-term commitment beyond the billing period. Cancel before renewal to avoid subsequent charges. Notice guidance: 5 working days for monthly plans and 10 working days for annual plans.

Cooling-off (Right to cancel within 14 days)

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 there is a 14-day cooling-off period for online purchases. For residents of the UK and EEA you can request a refund within 14 days from the date of purchase, unless you have downloaded content or used membership benefits during that period. If refund eligible EA will refund within 14 days of claim.

Before you cancel: try to negotiate

Research shows no public record of standard retention offers for EA Play. If you want to ask for a retention offer, use EA Help chat or phone, state your subscription (EA Play or EA Play Pro), request a discounted renewal or promotional code, and note the agent's name and reference. If no offer is made, proceed to cancel through your purchase platform.

What cancelling saves you - yearly calculations

EA Play prices: monthly £5.99 and annual £35.99. Monthly cost x12: £5.99 x 12 = £71.88. Annual plan cost: £35.99. Annual plan saves: £71.88 - £35.99 = £35.89 per year.

EA Play Pro prices: monthly £16.99 and annual £109.99. Monthly cost x12: £16.99 x 12 = £203.88. Annual plan cost: £109.99. Annual plan saves: £203.88 - £109.99 = £93.89 per year.

Cheapest competitor from research: PC Game Pass at £10.99 per month. Annual equivalent if paying monthly: £10.99 x 12 = £131.88 per year.

United Kingdom consumer law

Key laws: Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires services to be performed with reasonable care and skill; see section 45 for the statutory reference used by courts and advisers.

Cooling-off and digital exceptions

The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give a 14-day right to withdraw from online purchases. For digital content the right is lost if you download or stream content or use membership benefits during the 14 days.

Auto-renewal and unfair contract terms

The CMA treats hard-to-cancel subscriptions and unclear auto-renewal terms as potential unfair practices. If you face difficulty cancelling, document every contact and escalate to Citizens Advice or the CMA.

Escalation steps

1) Raise a complaint with EA Help and keep records. 2) If unresolved, get advice from Citizens Advice. 3) Consider chargeback or Section 75 via your card issuer for qualifying payments. 4) For practice-level complaints about consumer law, contact the Competition and Markets Authority or Trading Standards.

Access and final billing

After cancellation you retain access until the end of the current billing period. No further payments will be taken after the cancellation effective date unless you re-subscribe.

Data and account

EA's public terms do not publish detailed data retention periods for cancelled memberships. If you want account deletion or data export, request this through EA Help and keep the response. For personal data rights in the UK contact EA via help channels.

Re-activation and re-subscription

You can re-subscribe at any time through the same platform. Promotional or introductory prices previously applied may not be available on re-subscription.

• Identify where you purchased EA Play (EA account, App Store or Google Play).
• Cancel via that platform to stop future renewals.
• Save confirmation: screenshot, confirmation email or help ticket number.
• If within 14 days of purchase and you have not used membership benefits, request a refund under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
• If you downloaded content or used membership in the 14-day window, the right to withdraw is lost for digital content.
• Keep copies of any price-change notices or service reduction notices from EA in case you seek a partial refund under Consumer Rights Act 2015.
