Yoto is a screen-free audio platform for children offering a standalone player and a library of stories, music and educational content. The hardware family includes the Yoto Player and the Yoto Mini, plus physical audio cards and digital access via Yoto Club.

How it works

Families buy a Yoto Player or Mini (one-off purchase) and either buy individual Yoto Cards or subscribe to Yoto Club to stream a catalog of Yoto Originals and other titles. The Yoto App manages devices, downloads and account settings.

Web (detailed)

1. Go to https://yotoplay.com/ and sign in with the account used to buy Yoto Club.
2. Open "Yoto Club" in your account dashboard.
3. Click "Update/cancel plan" and then "Cancel Subscription" at the bottom of the page.
4. Confirm cancellation. You will receive an on-screen confirmation and an email. Keep the email for proof.

iOS and Android (detailed)

1. If your subscription was purchased through Apple, open Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions and cancel the Yoto subscription. If purchased through Google Play, open Play Store > Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions and cancel.
2. Apple/Google will provide a cancellation confirmation and show the expiry date. Yoto may still have its own account record; check your Yoto account to verify auto-renewal is stopped.

Moving abroad

If you move outside a country where Yoto Club is available and the service cannot be provided, contact Yoto to request contract termination. Price increase

Legitimate grounds accepted by Yoto

Yoto lists immediate termination reasons including significant changes to terms or services, pricing or description errors, supply delays caused by events outside Yoto's control, suspension of services for more than 14 days for technical reasons, or Yoto misconduct. End of commitment

If you are on a monthly plan, you can cancel at any time and the plan will run until the end of the current paid period. If you purchased an annual plan, the fee is prepaid for 12 months and Yoto will not prorate early cancellation fees unless required by law. Provide proof: order invoice. Cooling-off (change of mind)

You have 14 days to request a refund after signup under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. For digital content delivered immediately (streaming or download), Yoto says that once download or streaming starts with your acknowledgement, you waive the 14-day right. To exercise cooling-off for a Yoto Club annual plan, contact Yoto within 14 days. Provide proof: signup confirmation and cancellation request. Applicable law: Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

Before you cancel: negotiate retention

Research does not show public reports of standard retention discounts or offers from Yoto. If you want to ask for an offer, send an email to [email protected] from the account holder address, state the subscription you have, and request a retention or downgrade to Explorer. Key UK consumer law

Cooling-off and digital content

The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give a 14-day right to change your mind for online contracts. For digital content the right can be waived once download/streaming starts and you were informed and acknowledged that loss of the right would occur. Auto-renewal and hard-to-cancel subscriptions

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) treats hard-to-cancel subscriptions and unclear auto-renewal as potential unfair practices. Yoto allows stopping auto-renewal via the account interface and requires cancellation at least 72 hours before renewal to ensure it applies to the next period. If a subscription is hard to cancel, escalate to Citizens Advice and the CMA.

Escalation path

1) Complain to Yoto in writing and keep records. 2) If unresolved, contact Citizens Advice for next steps. 3) For card payments over £100, consider Section 75 credit card claim; for other card payments, request chargeback through your card issuer. 4) If applicable, raise the matter with the relevant ombudsman. After cancelling via the website, check your Yoto account to confirm auto-renewal is off and note the subscription expiry date.
